Chuu releases third mini album Only Cry in the Rain

"The memories of a rainy day, flowing sentiments, and a page out of youth"

"Even when memories blur, the emotions stay. Fading is never the end"

The singer Chuu releases her third album Only Cry in the Rain on April 21.

This album emotionally weaves together the story of things that flow, things that stay, and a youth that moves onward once again. The blurry memories that everyone has, the clearer memories that remain within, and the way we all walk our daily routines again have been captured in Chuu's uniquely warm sentimentality. Saying that one can become truthful to emotions on a rainy day, focusing on the moment of emotion, she wove the anxiety of youth and a narrative of growth through music.

This album, consisting of five tracks, paints the journey of facing the unseen things called 'memory' and 'emotion' and moving onward again. As she sings of pulling out forgotten emotions and how those things constitute her present self, we can see Chuu's deepened musical world and a songlike internal growth.

Title track "Only Cry in the Rain" sets the rainy day as the one and only time and place where one can lay bare their emotion. Just like a cuckoo clock that only cries on the stroke of the hour, one also only carefully examines emotions on the rainy day. Then, once the rain stops, youths must live their lives again as if nothing happened; and the song illustrates this collective life under a warm gaze. The melancholy emotion set atop upbeat rhythm shows Chuu's unique identity an an even clearer way.

The music video was produced in a dramatized manner for the first time since Chuu's solo debut. In a dreamy world where memory and reality intersect, it tells of the emotions lingering within fading memories, and the voice that rings out in the flowing rainwater imparts an intense message that "fading is never the end".

Apart from the title track, this album has been filled with songs that are also overflowing with Chuu's charming tone and sentimental narrative.

Only Cry in the Rain shows off Chuu's more matured musicality and emotional depth. The careful gaze with which she treats emotion and the diverse genres attempted both show how much Chuu's musical world has expanded and also provide an emotional point for her to connect more deeply with fans.

Chuu's sentimentality will seep in with the rain on April 21, 2025.

Only Cry in the Rain will be a small consolation offered to the youth in all of us.
