[News] JTBC: Vivi & Hyunjin Also File Lawsuit to Terminate Contracts (230203)

JTBC:

[Exclusive] LOONA’s Vivi & Hyunjin also file lawsuit to terminate contracts… High chance of winning

In the end, all of the members ended up being involved in legal conflict with their agency.

According to the JTBC Entertainment News Team’s investigation on the 3rd, LOONA’s Vivi and Hyunjin have filed for an injunction to suspend the effect of their exclusive contracts against Blockberry Creative, following Chuu and nine members (Heejin, Haseul, Yeojin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Yves, Go Won, Olivia Hye).

It was confirmed that Vivi and Hyunjin have a high probability of winning their cases, having the same contract terms as Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry, who have previously won injunctions in their lawsuits to provisionally suspend their contracts. The outcomes of the two individuals’ lawsuits are expected to be decided soon. If Vivi and Hyunjin are granted injunctions, the only members tied to the agency would be Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye, who agreed to a supplementary contract that Blockberry Creative proposed to the members in late 2021.

However, as Blockberry Creative has submitted a petition requesting to prohibit the entertainment activities of Chuu, who was permanently removed and expelled from LOONA, to the Korean Entertainment Management Association (CEMA) and Korean Entertainment Producers Association (KEPA), it is expected that even if Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Vivi and Hyunjin become able to freely carry out individual schedules without being constrained by the agency, they would still be involved a lengthy battle.

Blockberry Creative was embroiled in controversy in 2021, when the circumstances of its internal management were made public. During those events, Chuu, who had been the most active individually among the LOONA members, grew disgruntled with the agency’s payment settlement issues, and filed for an injunction to suspend the effect of her exclusive contract. Chuu subsequently won a partial injunction and engaged in individual activities freely, without being constrained by the agency.

Chuu also carried out team activities simultaneously, but conflicts with the agency intensified, and she was ultimately removed from LOONA. In these circumstances, Blockberry Creative’s unfair contracting practices came under fire, and nine members of LOONA excluding Vivi and Hyunjin (Heejin, Haseul, Yeojin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Yves, Go Won, Olivia Hye) also filed for a provisional disposition to suspend the effect of their exclusive contracts. The court awarded injunction decisions to Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry, but Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye, who had partially altered the terms of their contracts, were not granted their petitions.
