Orbits, the princess is here ⸜(♡'ᗜ'♡)⸝ Have you all been well?! Already the year has changed and it's January 30, as we gaze towards the end of January...!!! My debut anniversary has come!!(•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑ Every January I think, 'Time has passed by this quickly already..?' I'm still very young, but ever since I became an adult, I've been feeling this even more strongly every new year. So on last year too, as always, I have a lot of disappointments. But I've had just as many joyful things happen too, so I'm thinking that it was still all right. We may have ended promotions early, but I got to be a cool Go Won in a really awesome concept, I got to win a music show thanks to Orbits, I did an online concert together with Orbits, and we made all kinds of memories, didn't we. So from now on, I'm going to look forward to the days still to come more expectantly, rather than spend time being disappointed about the past. Of course this might be hard for me since I tend to think a lot, but I think it's doable if I'm with Orbits. I'm at my fourth anniversary now, but the remaining days I wish to spend with Orbits is more like 400 years, not four. This concert complies with the government's Covid-19 prevention guidelines for the safety of artists and everyone visiting the concert venue. In order to ensure a stable concert time, along with safe viewing of the concert, the concert scheduled for February 11 (Fri) 8pm will be shifted 30 minutes earlier, to 7.30pm. In addition, we would like to inform you that on on February 11 (Fri), the concert MD sales booth will be open from 2.30pm, and it will be operated strictly in accordance with the Covid-19 prevention guidelines. Orbit! It’s Jiwoo 😍 It’s already the 4th anniversary..? I’m writing this letter while listening to Heart Attack. Yeah, so I tried to write while listening to Heart Attack for like 10 minutes and I couldn't focus on writing emotional things and I kept shaking my butt so I turned it back off The Heart Attack album itself is a very heart-thumping album and I prepared it with an excited mindset, so it still gets me really excited to this day 🥰 Around this time of year, as it’s becoming cold, it reminds me of meeting the members for the first time before Heart Attack was made, finding good places to eat near the company building, and funny memories from when we started living together So I pull up photos from around that time in my gallery As I do that, I end up looking back at whether I'm different now, having achieved something I wanted, or how close I've come to the person I've wanted to be Thinking back, time's passed by so quickly since debut that I can't believe it's been four years already, and I want to explore myself more. Chuu: I want to emphasize “chou chou joayo” from Starseed ~Kakusei~ because it’s cute having Japanese and Korean mixed together. I like the Japanese word “mokumoku” (silently working on something). [T/N: The more common definition of “mokumoku” is stated above, but there are various alternative usages, such as being the onomatopoeia for smoke/clouds flowing past, or an alternative onomatopoeia for chewing (“mogumogu”), and it’s not clear which definition Chuu is referring to.] Heejin: I was happy when I came to understand the meaning of “kakusei” (awakening). At first I thought it was “gakusei” (student), but it was interesting when I understood it after learning Japanese. Yves: The pronunciation for “tsu” and “ku” were difficult, so I worked hard on it. “ku” is pronounced more nasally compared to Korean, so I put in a lot of effort to pronounce it cutely♡ Go Won: I like the Japanese word “kirakira” (onomatopoeia for sparkling/twinkling). Yeojin: It was our first time singing in Japanese, so all the members were careful about their pronunciation. I hope that the efforts will be conveyed to the fans as well. Jinsoul: The lyrics have the same meaning, but I think the difference in pronunciation is a big point. It's the same song, but the rhythm is a little different, and I sang it with a different feeling. I’d like you to pay attention to those parts. ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー Q5. What’s a charm that you think is unique to LOONA? A. Haseul: From solos to units, and then to a 12-person group, LOONA took a long time to become complete. Group Interview We look forward to their Japanese activities in which they can show a new version of themselves What is the key point of your long-awaited Japanese debut song HULA HOOP? Hyunjin: Unlike our songs until now, we use a lot of aegyo, so please look out for that. Chuu: There are a lot of points where Orbits will see and naturally smile at. A new and fresh appearance, as well as bright smiles that only LOONA can do. What are some episodes from recording or the MV shoot? Vivi: Before recording and before the MV shoot, we would purposely jump in order to get our excitement up! Jinsoul: When we were recording, I paid most attention towards the Japanese pronunciation. I paid too much attention to it that, even though it’s a bright and happy song, it would suddenly become serious, and ended up taking a lot of time. It has been a while since our MV would have a fresh and cute feel to it, so even though it felt awkward at the beginning, I slowly adapted and had fun with the shoot. This time the MV used CGI, so it was shot entirely with a green chroma-key background. Of the other members’ parts, do you have any that you like? Choerry: Go Won unnie’s part “Yeah stay with me forever now what ya say”. Go Won: I like Yeojin’s rapping section. I thought it was a difficult part, but with how Yeojin makes the rap cute and have a pop vibe, I think it’s the killing part of the song. Before debuting as a group in Korea, you all had a solo debut. If you were to perform another member’s song, whose song would you like to try? Heejin: Lately I’ve been wanting to try Kim Lip’s “Eclipse”, because out of all the LOONA members’ solo songs, it has the sexiest vibe. Hyunjin: For me, it’s Heejin’s “ViViD”. When she first got the song, we recorded it together, so I’ve wondered before how it would’ve been if I were to do it. Haseul: Yves’ “new”. Because I want to show a new side of myself that I’ve never been able to.. (lol) Yeojin: Vivi unnie’s “Everyday I Love You”. It’s a really good song, and the concept is pretty, so I want to cover it!! Go Won: It’s also “Everyday I Love You” for me. It’s a song I like to begin with, and it’s also a concept I would like to try sometime. Choerry: It’s Olivia Hye’s “Egoist” for me. Unlike my solo song, it has a somewhat deep feel to it, so I’d like to give these kinds of songs a try. Olivia Hye: I want to try singing Jinsoul unnie’s “Singing in the Rain”. When I joined the company, I was told to choose a solo song to practice, and that was the song I had chosen. Vivi: I like “Singing in the Rain” too. To Orbits, Because I’m still shy about being congratulated, even by Orbits whom I love Pretending not to know for a few days, and with the excuse of not knowing how to start this letter for another few days... I put it off and put it off, and now I’m holding this pen. (At dawn on the due date… *snoring*) Fascinating thing is, I live my life while forgetting my solo debut date! Then around this time the company takes care to ask, “Yves… Please write a letter for your solo debut date” I get surprised and, at the same time, more than a little sad. So this year’s wrapping up too, it’s wintertime! This year, winter has come particularly quickly. Though I’m someone who likes the transition from summer to autumn... I rubbed my eyes in the early dawn to meet but the fall didn’t come, Should I call it the feeling of being left alone on an empty, cold porch. So I’m still sad and don’t like the winter that arrived without any regard!!! ㅡ ㅡ When it’s dark outside when I look through the small window while practicing, Despite living through the same 24 hours, as if I’m alone living in a different time zone, not being able to get used to the much shorter daytime, When I touch my phone with my fingertips, going numb even after briefly meeting the outside air, Now, I feel that I have no choice but to face the winter. But then, why am I always talking about winter and the same thing again in these letters? Why am I spending these precious lines with the fact that I don’t like winter…? The reason why a difficult-to-explain emotion blooms, even when it's just one page of the four seasons I experience every time is probably that the story of ours that I once left a bookmark in was unwittingly reopened by me, led by the temperature of the season. Though I’m not with Orbits every morning and every evening, it still feels like we’ve always been together When you want to be with and see someone all the time, that’s love, right?♡ I thought long and hard for another reason, and I came up with regret, feeling sorry, and also anger towards “myself”!?!?!?!” hahahahaha Many emotions themselves end up being the reason. Definitely when 2021 began, I wanted to live like “Anne of Green Gables”, so I actually bought an “Anne of Green Gables” diary, you know? They gave Anne stickers if you bought it so I wrote in my diary daily and stuck pretty Annes too while wrapping up the day. It wasn’t bad at the start… Likely, my friend Anne is probably asleep in the drawer. Sorry, friend. I read somewhere that to succeed, you need to develop various habits. Of those, one of them was to consistently be logging, but I’m a woman who has Orbits so I’ve already succeeded. Actually at the start of the year, like everyone else, I had already written the things I definitely wanted to achieve over the year in the first page of the diary. And confidently entered the dreams I really wanted to achieve on my phone (though in reality I’m the only one who sees it…) Whenever things were tough I took it out, but there are still so many things I didn’t accomplish haha After just leaving it in my head, then running into reality, the me in the present and the dreams in my head got all tangled up, and grew even bigger next time, and later it just all felt so vague. Blockberry Creative in serious financial difficulties of billions of won, including non-payment of taxes, wages, and service costs Blockberry Creative, the agency of K-pop group LOONA, is facing a severe financial crisis which has lit a red light on LOONA’s future activities. According to multiple music industry sources on the 28th [of September], unpaid bills towards numerous contractors and external personnel who have worked with Blockberry Creative currently range from tens to hundreds of millions of won. These companies and workers have performed their duties diligently despite months without compensation, sometimes enduring personal financial difficulties. However, it has been confirmed that the hair, makeup and stylist agencies were recently notified by Blockberry Creative to “quit working” in a pressuring, power-abusive manner. The agency of the girl group LOONA lost a 3.5 billion (~3 million USD) KRW investment lawsuit this month, which is expected to have a significant impact on the group's activities in the future. According to a Star News investigation from this Wednesday, LOONA's agency Blockberry Creative lost a lawsuit recently filed by Donuts, the company’s second-largest shareholder, and is to return the 3.5 billion KRW (~3 million USD) invested by Donuts. According to the Seoul Central District Court's civil case ruling, Donuts invested 3.5 billion KRW in Polaris, the parent company of Blockberry Creative, but claimed that the agreed-upon contract, which included LOONA’s appearances in relation with Donuts' business, was not fulfilled. As a result, the court ruled that Polaris should return the entire investment as it violated the terms of the investment. Donuts invested ~5.5 billion KRW (~4.6 million USD) in Blockberry Creative and Polaris, including the 3.5 billion KRW in the aforementioned investment, and reportedly suffered losses due to the breach of the contract with Blockberry Creative and Polaris. [Exclusive] Appeal on Repayment of Loona's 3.5 Billion Won Investment Rejected; Initial Ruling Upheld An appeal filed by the group Loona's label regarding the lawsuit for repayment of 3.5 billion won (~3 million USD) of investment funding has been rejected. Loona must return the full amount to the investor. On the 14th, the Seoul High Court (35th Civil Affairs Division) upheld the initial ruling in the appellate suit filed by Loona's agency, Blockberry Creative, and its parent company, Polaris, against an investment repayment lawsuit. It explained, "The Loona party was absent on more than two hearing dates of the appellate suit, so the appeal is considered withdrawn." Thus the agency's appeal has been rejected, and Polaris and Blockberry Creative must return the full 3.5 billion won to the investor, Donuts. The ruling of full repayment casts a red light on the company's management as well as on Loona, which has activities forthcoming. Donuts, the second-largest investor in Blockberry, initially filed a repayment lawsuit claiming that it had invested 3.5 billion won in Blockberry's parent company of Polaris but Loona had not fulfilled the promised contract. The court initially ruled that "The Loona side must return the invested amount in full", and the agency filed an appeal. The case was sent to the High Court in February, but as both sides did not attend the hearing dates, the appeal has been rejected. Polaris was also involved in litigation against Donuts last year. Polaris partnered with Donuts in 2017 to begin the Loona development project, and received 400 million won (~340,000 USD) to be used as deposit towards a space lease (place-based branding contract). However, they were sued for failing to repay 360 million won, deducting the repaid amount of 40 million. The court sided with Donuts. It has been reported that Donuts plans to assert rights on Loona according to the investment agreement, so as to prevent Loona from having its agency affiliation changed or transferred. Loona debuted as a 12-person full group in August 2018, and garnered attention for production by chairman Lee Soo-man of SM Entertainment. Loona won first place in Mnet's "M! According to an exclusive StarNews investigation, Blockberry Creative, the agency of K-pop girl group Loona, is embroiled in an ownership dispute. In 2017, the Japanese IT company Donuts struck a branding deal with Polaris for "MyLive", an entertainer audition app, but the deal did not progress well. The Donuts branding deal involved Polaris Entertainment, the parent company of Blockberry, to rent out a portion of the entertainer trainee academy (music training facility) that it operates in the Shinsa-dong neighborhood of Seoul's Gangnam District, and for Donuts to pay 400 million KRW in deposit and 10 million KRW per month in service fees. The contracting parties were Donuts, Ilgwang Polaris (now Polaris Entertainment), and Lee Jong-myeong. Lee Jong-myeong was named on the contract as a joint guarantor for the obligation for the deposit to be returned. The contract term expired on October 28, 2018. Through a deposit return lawsuit from 2019 against Polaris, Donuts won a court order to receive back the deposit with interest. However, despite the court decision, Polaris has yet to return the deposit and interest. Joint guarantor Lee Jong-myeong is also refusing to take responsibility, citing a lack of assets. Thus in 2017, in order to preserve its right to monetary claims against Lee Jong-myeong who is not only the joint guarantor on the 2017 contract but also known as the de facto owner of Polaris and Blockberry, Donuts has filed a lawsuit to return the stock owned by Kim Seon-hye, Lee's wife and Blockberry's current chair, into Lee Jong-myeong's ownership. The pleading filed by Donuts claims that Lee Jong-myeong has placed Blockberry stock in a name trust with his wife Kim Seon-hye, and that the actual owner of that stock is Lee. Donuts is demanding that Lee break the stock's name trust agreement, and carry out the change on Blockberry's shareholder register to transfer the stock back under Lee's name. However, Lee Jong-myeong is not complying with this. As a result Donuts, as the creditor, has now requested the change in shareholder register on Lee's behalf, in order to preserve Lee's executable property. Donuts asserts that Blockberry has an obligation to carry out the register change and transfer the stock into Lee's name. If Donuts' lawsuit is admitted, chair Kim Seon-hye's stock will be entirely transferred to be under Lee Jong-myeong's ownership. This is expected to have significant impact on Kim's share of Blockberry ownership. Previously, Donuts won a recent lawsuit for repayment of investment funds against Loona's agency Blockerry and Polaris, receiving back over 4 billion KRW in investment principal and interest. "A journey following the light into tomorrow, Loona's Heejin" Follow The Light For Better TOMORROW This seemingly endless year is drawing to a close. Wading through the thick mist, hoping for the dark shroud to be lifted, it's a time to fly towards a brighter tomorrow. A small joy, to be able to face each other intimately and laugh, wherever, together. As we wish that one day we won't even remember the haze of today, we followed a single ray of light together with Loona's Heejin. I recall that you debuted sensationally as Loona's first member. Is there a role or character that you've held down in the team since then? I was the very first, so they call me "Dangun Heejin". Haha! And the fans, because my representative animal is the rabbit, affectionately call me "Heekki" which I'm grateful for. It's a name that I absolutely love. Haha! And within the team, my role is the one who creates a serious atmosphere, true to my personality. Curious to know how you came to debut first out of 12 girls. I'm passionate about everything I do, so even as a trainee I had a lot of desire to be diligent at whatever it might be. I think they saw sincerity in that, and thought of that as good. How would you evaluate your own personality? I'm someone who's always on the serious side, but once I get excited I really hit the peak that way too! To be honest, in some ways this seriousness is good because it helps me to always think deeply, but I also think it's a negative because people don't approach me or become playful with me very easily. Which part of your looks are you most confident in? My nose! I like that vibe in photos or videos of my side profile, when the ridge of my nose shows up subtly. In promotions there seems to be no concept you cannot handle, from innocent to sexy to girl crush. I do have this desire to try and handle any concept well, and because I live by the mantra that "People live the way they think", before I start something I don't trap myself in a negative thought like "This probably wouldn't fit me..." Among your albums and songs to date, what would be your 'one pick', the one that fits your style and taste the best? Among the title tracks, "Butterfly" released in 2019! I think the mysterious and dreamy mood cradled in the music drew out Loona's charms the best. Would also love to know the music genres you listen to and enjoy on your own time. Rather than limiting to one genre, I like to mix different kinds of music and listen diversely. Genres like K-pop, pop, dance, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, and so on all have distinct characteristics so I think I discover something new to enjoy every time I listen. What do you listen to when you want to dance, or become sentimental? I like to put a K-pop chart or Idol Hot 100 playlist on shuffle and dance to it. When I want to be sentimental, I enjoy Ariana Grande's "POV". We'd be remiss to not discuss [12:00], the third mini album released in October. Could you explain how it came to be and the concept? [12:00] consists of four different concepts under one big concept of the "Midnight Festival", as we tell the story of a midnight festival unique to Loona in a fantastical way. We wanted it to contain diverse colors different than before, so we painstakingly worked on it for quite a long time, studying the right atmosphere that fit each concept. What's the track that you were most attached to before and after release? "Universe"! I was attached to it even before the release, maybe because that song contains the words we want to express to the fans with sincerity. The title calls to mind the universe and it relates to "Orbit", our fandom name, so after release I've gained even more affection for it. I've heard that [12:00] has garnered the most popularity out of all your albums so far, and accomplished astonishing sales figures. If I could dare to guess, it might be that in this difficult time with COVID-19, people were stuck at home while socially distancing and suppressing their innate joy, and [this album] struck their tastes. In particular, there's an addictive chorus that makes everyone lift their shoulders and dance, and I think that had its own fatal appeal for many people who love K-pop. Through [12:00] promotions, Loona entered the Billboard 200 for the first time, and also achieved the Artist 100 and eight Billboard charts. Really curious how you feel. I debuted first among the Loona members and I've been here from the days when we were just establishing the basics of the team's direction and overall image. So watching us grow continually like this, I not only feel my heart swelling, I also feel proud. Going forward, I want us to be a team that maintains our beginner's mindset and humility, but also look towards somewhere higher and move step by step into a better tomorrow. The music video of "Star", the English version of side track "Voice", was recently released and is again gathering attention. "Voice" and "Star" have the same melody but the lyrical content is different. I think that distinct charm makes it enjoyable for fans to track down. In particular as we took care in including the English version in this album, we tried to take a step closer to the global fans who love Loona and to ease any disappointment they may have felt so far, as much as we could. Lots of questions about "Star". First, how did this song come to be in English? The key to "Star" is that it's connected to Orbits, who always inspire Loona. The stars in the concept photos and the music video all represent Orbits, and I think as it contains our love towards global fans, people across the world have been reacting warmly to it. I heard that on November 20, a well-known U.S. radio station (102.7 KIIS FM) officially played "Star", putting up advance notice on Twitter. In these ways you're garnering great popularity abroad. How much of it are you realizing? I have family in Brazil, and once they told me that Loona appeared on the local news there. Seeing stuff like that is fascinating, and I'm truly grateful that we can be connected as one through music even in different countries. Do you plan to start global promotions in earnest? Once things get better, I want to go meet global Orbits as soon as possible. And extending this festival concept of the [12:00] album, I want to perform on world-renowned festivals and show off unique Loona performances with passion and dazzle. Above all, starting with the "Star" music video, we're going to find whatever way we can to increase channels through which we can communicate with global Orbits. Album promotions must have kept you incredibly busy. How do you maintain your health and figure usually? No matter how busy I am, I never forget to take my supplements! With my meals too, I plan around a healthy diet and always stick to low carb, high protein. But I love bread too much to deny myself, so I look for the healthiest bread I can find like vegan or protein bread, and that's how I'm maintaining my diet. Based on today, it seems like you also exercise a lot. When I'm off promotions I never let my body rest, like a workout addict. Even during promotions, whenever I get a little break I try to move my body as much as I can. Even today between the shoots I was busy doing core workouts. Did you ever learn pilates as well? I attended a pilates studio regularly during a hiatus, and I felt really attached because it's an exercise that allows me lots of time to focus on myself. And pilates also helped me realize that routine habits shape my body, so I plan to make more time to learn it more passionately. The concept of the December issue's cover story is "a better tomorrow made by Heejin who chases after the light". Do you think the pictorial turned out as well as you hoped? I think they took everything I wanted to express and filmed it in a really pretty way. This pictorial had diverse concepts so I thought of it as challenging myself, and I felt myself growing more through the shoot so I was very satisfied about that. Which concept or outfit from today did you like the best? The red outfit I wore for the cover photo! As much as I love the outfit, I'm a little disappointed in the final result too. I kept monitoring during the shoot and I was thinking that I still have such a long way to go. At the end of the year, what do you want to do and receive the most? The Lovely Girls, Chuu and Yves Edited by Yang Bo-yeon, a freelancer, for Noblesse Men. Not the Album of the Month, or Movie, or Employee, or Recommended Stocks, but Girls of the Month. I had a culture shock when I first saw the concept photos of girl group Loona on social media. Like 12 magazine covers, each individual filling up the panels with different characters and loveliness. To think that the appearance of a girl could be this diverse. It was like seeing tubs of Baskin Robbins ice cream in all shapes and colors. These adorable, cute, pretty, innocent, and mature ladies thus filled up an entire year. In truth, the tools of a female idol group are predictable. They might dance in sexy or acrobatic ways, or match in synchronized choreographies, or have a unique concept or excellent vocal abilities. But Loona does all this well. They dance well, their angles are perfectly matched, and their singing is quite skilled. And then they show off their lovely sides through these varied charms. So Loona has no main vocalist or dancer. No wonder, because Loona consist of elite members, selected from fierce competition. They look hopelessly tender, but in reality they are well-prepared stars for the next generation. This issue of Noblesse Men met with two of these twelve girls armed with their own charms. It's the lovely yet adorable member Chuu, and Yves who attracts with her mature yet husky voice. The Girl Who Delivers Love, Chuu There's a girl who showed up on MBC's How Do You Play? this February and showed off a matchless charm. "Really? You know me? That's such a gift." (Everyone smiles) The girl's single utterance towards Yoo Jae-suk, said with a lively tone, expression and gesture like the protagonist of a romance comic, stood at the center of attention as it generated numerous memes. Her name is Chuu, this 1999-born girl who's a member of Loona, and she possesses a mysterious power to make everyone smile. As an idol she has stood on music show and performance stages and landed on six Billboard charts, and as a solo she is cruising through various variety shows and YouTube channel Chuu Can Do It. "There are so many moments when I am so grateful that it doesn't feel real. I especially never thought I'd get this much attention out of variety or YouTube content. I prepared diligently, of course, but I personally don't think I'm very humorous, so I just tried to show off my charms and that helped me enjoy the filming, and I think that showed through. Naturally." Chuu's behavior, like drawing a heart with her arms for Kim Gu-ra on MBC's Radio Star or shooting off winks with a smile filling her face, is a natural demeanor that cannot arise out of preparation or practice. "I grew up receiving so much love. And I was playful ever since I was little. I'm the oldest child, and I liked to play with my younger siblings too." As soon as she graduated from middle school, this love-filled girl came to Seoul from Hongcheon with a dream of becoming an idol. "The reason I decided I wanted to debut is, I thought I was someone who could return the love and energy that I received." Positive emotions including smiling can be a source of energy, and being able to deliver them to others so harmlessly is a talent. Surely it is. "Recently, I was thinking about what I am truly good at, what my strength is. And then it came to mind, that maybe my talent is being able to deliver positive feelings to someone who sees me," Chuu said with a confidence-filled gaze, as if to speak her true feelings despite embarrassment. As the Earth is not flat, neither is "girl with lots of aegyo" all there is to Chuu. "I'm thankful to receive so much attention for this tomboy-like appearance that I've shown on variety and YouTube, but in some ways I'm also left wanting. After being in front of the camera as Chuu, when I return to being Kim Jiwoo and get back to the dorm, I have all these thoughts. So I think the difference between Chuu and Kim Jiwoo is that they are people with different depths of thought." Through their most recent release "PPT" [T/N: "PTT"], Loona presented a fierce impression and sophisticated performance. "There are more music and performance concepts that I'd like to try. I want to perform with a refreshing concept like a fizzy sparkling drink, I want to do a stage holding just a mic and filling it up with only my voice like Beyonce's "Halo" that I did briefly on Radio Star, and I want to release a cool solo song too." Then what would Loona's strength be, as Chuu sees it? "We are girls with endless possibility who can definitely show more awesome music and performances going forward. We have a lot more to show you." Chuu, who had a smile on her face the entire time, suddenly spoke quietly with a confident expression. "We haven't even come halfway to the vision I'd imagined and desired. I'm going to work even harder. Really!" I smiled along with her. The Thoughtful Leader, Yves "I'm Yves, twenty-five years old. I'm the second oldest in Loona, and one of the three leaders. Each leader has a different style, and I have cool charisma too, but I think I'm the unnie that the dongsaengs can always come to with their problems." Yves is the thoughtful pillar that supports the twelve members of Loona. She's a multi-talented member who creates cheerful atmospheres, to the point that she's called the "Dependable Gag Character" within the group. "I'm a leader and all, so I want to show off a charismatic side on stage. So the things that symbolize me in Loona's concepts - the swan, burgundy, tuberose, apple, I love them all. Because I can show off a different charm than Ha Sooyoung's. Ha Sooyoung gets easily embarrassed, and finds it difficult to express herself frankly. On the other hand I think Yves is someone who's confident, bold, charismatic, and creates an alluring performance through that. Different right from the gaze." Then how about the name Yves? "I heard that the company had a lot of trouble deciding on my stage name. Lots of candidates, including Shasha and Jelly. Then they decided on "Yves", and I thought that this is the one." Yves' charms shine even in "New", her solo single released in 2017. From her uniquely mysterious attraction to sleek dance lines to elegant vocals, it summarized the charms of the rookie named Yves. ""New" is still a song I'm proud of, but I don't find myself listening to it much now. Because I could do it so much better now. We're already a fourth-year group. It's a long time if you see it that way, but we think we're still in the early stage. We want to go even further, even longer, and if it were a marathon we think this is the beginning course." If, as Yves says, Loona is still in their early stage, they would be an immensely high-achieving rookie. Every release garners millions of views for the music video, and their achievements are clear not only as a group, but also as individual artists and in variety. "When we heard that our song landed on six Billboard categories, we were in the practice room. My mind went blank, like is this real. We always prepared our performance the same way even before that, then, and even now, just going back and forth between the practice room and recording studio, and it was amazing to see our song on a global chart." But apart from that, Yves emphasized that she has a conviction in the future of the group called Loona. "We can handle any concept in a splendid way. Not only the performances that emphasize synchronization, but I also want to try a concept where we're playing freely on stage. If Loona was a tree, I think the twelve members would be flowers each with their own charms. A tree on which colorful and pretty flowers have bloomed."
