- Elle Korea, Nov 2023 - Interview with Chuu (231026)
Chuu’s Standing Solo Chuu has returned with her first mini album, Howl. She readies to set off alone, boldly. By Song Ye-in Q: We did our shoot in a studio that resembles home. What’s Chuu’s most cherished and beloved space at home? A: Home is one of the precious spaces where I can feel calm. I don’t invite anyone except my closest friends. My favorite is the living room. The sofa there is more comfortable than the master bed. I like to fall asleep on the sofa while watching TV. Feels like I’m really making the most of single life. Q: After this interview, you also need to cook for the Elle YouTube filming, right? Curious if you usually cook at home. A: I don’t have a ton of diverse cooking experiences, but there are dishes that I’m confident about. I use one whole freezer and the freezer compartment of a regular fridge, so two freezers total. Full of different ingredients and meal kits. Honestly I can confidently say I really make a great spicy bean paste stew. (Laughs) Get some homestyle bean paste, add even just a little tofu and squash, and it’s still delicious. The key is scallions and cheongyang pepper. The pepper is essential, and you can’t forget the chili powder either. I also like taking meal kits and adding green onion, hot peppers, and other ingredients I like. Q: What did you have for breakfast today? A: Japchae, chicken breast, and konjac rice, with cheongyang peppers that I sliced up! Q: You released your first mini album on October 18. You must have things that you’re excited about and worried about. A: I tried new things on the title track “Howl”, including vocal tone, so I’m a little excited. Worried about expressiveness, but I need to fill the stage from beginning to end, and expressing emotion is important. Q: What’s been the biggest change while preparing for solo activities? A: I’ve learned how to deeply love a song. No one will care about the story inside a song unless I deliver it to them. I studied music purely out of my own desires, and I found myself having fun while putting in the effort. Now I’m no longer afraid of the moment when I express myself. Q: Were you afraid to express yourself before? A: I worried about how other people saw me, and when I was asked for tough and powerful vibes, I felt some unexplained sense of awkwardness, too. I think I’ve grown a lot in the process of falling and immersing into “Howl”. Filming the music video over five days, I gradually gained more confidence. Q: Seeing the music video, it definitely felt new. A: Right. I wanted to show that Chuu has a lot of sides too, that I have no limits. Q: What are you most satisfied with about the Howl album? A: The stories in the songs. I’ve depicted the process where two wounded souls become little heroes to each other and heal those wounds. The girl and the monster both represent me. I raise myself up and comfort myself. Q: So it’s Chuu’s story, in the end. A: Yes. Everyone has difficult moments. I put a lot of thought into expressing the message of overcoming that and loving yourself more, inside of three minutes. There’s a lot that I’ve gotten to study properly while this album was produced. I learned how to analyze a song, how to express in recording, how a music video is made complete. As I’ve taken care and attention into every part, I hope my intent will reach the public. Q: What’s your favorite lyric in this album? A: In the title track “Howl”, I like the chorus that goes “Even if God turns his back on me, you’re right there. Shout loud, “It’s mayday”. Even if the whole world abandons you, I’m right here.” Saying even if this entire world abandons you, I’m gonna be here so I want you to be there too. Q: The lyricist Seo Ji-eum wrote that, right? A: Yes, I was so grateful because I admire her so much. The moment I read the lyrics, I realized that the words that I was screaming from within, that I hadn’t even known, were being expressed intact. Seeing the words that I could never tell anyone expressed in the lyrics, making me think that maybe the lyricist is my guardian angel, felt electric. I teared up. Q: Heard that you filmed the music video in Portugal. What are some memories from there. A: First of all Portugal is so pretty. And it’s the home of the wine I like. (Laughs) I filmed scenes singing with astonishing nature as the backdrop, and I was so happy that I was getting goosebumps. I filmed in this dusty warehouse to depict the wounded girl, and before I knew it I was immersed and the tears came even without using tear sticks. Q: You’ve been keeping a diary for over 7 years. Are there days that you remember vividly? A: I write my day’s happenings in detail, so I remember most of the writings vividly even if I don’t open up the diaries. I remember this one entry I wrote in my first year of high school. I got nervous at an audition, and my emotions of hating and feeling ashamed of that self, that whole thing is clearly recorded. Q: Why were you so nervous? A: In the audition, things that were really unlike me kept coming out. I danced while blaming myself so I ended up being clunky, and the thought that “If I fail here, some group that doesn’t have me in it will be born right?” made me endlessly gloomy. But thinking back, there were many joyful moments in that too. Memories of secretly running away with the members to hang out in Hangang, or going to eat soondae gukbap. The day I earned my driver’s license was nice, too. Q: Do you think of yourself as honest to your emotions? A: Yes. I express honestly that I’m happy when I’m happy, and say “no fun” if it’s not fun. However I try hard to hold back my tears. Q: Sometimes it’s better to let the tears burst than hold back. A: Right, it feels relieving to let it burst. But I think the answer is to hold back. It’s also a chore to cry. I might cry once a year, if that. Q: You’ve been attempting so many different hobbies on the YouTube channel that I’m not sure if there’s anything you haven’t tried. What are you into lately? A: I’ve taken up drawing. I bought a drawing app, never used it, and then I filmed some drawing content recently, and I ended up being so good. I think I’ve got a knack for it. (Laughs) I was thinking about “Underwater”, the song on Howl, and then I drew a jellyfish, and I’m pretty proud of that. Q: You’ve had diverse experiences while working all over entertainment, including variety shows and music. As you’ve gained in years, I feel like you might have felt impatient at times. A: The mini album has me impatient for the first time. With variety, even if the views aren’t high, I think it’s fine as long as it’s fun. I have the hazy hope that if I’m having fun, the general public might watch someday too. But with the album, I’m particularly keen for it to be loved. Q: How do you shake off that kind of feeling? A: There is no way. I just forget about it. Honestly I’m not so worried that my daily life is falling apart. Just “What should I do” is about the extent of it. One of my strengths is that I’m good at erasing and forgetting things from my head. (Laughs) I shake things off easily even without trying. Q: As a 25-year-old Chuu, how grown-up do you feel. A: I think a grown-up is someone who can come to a conclusion on their own. I’m very lacking in that aspect. Music is one field where I keep trying to do better, so I don’t think I’d be satisfied until I become exceptional. If you would love this new Chuu style, I think I could take another step further without fear. Q: What would be a magical incantation to strengthen yourself? A: “I’m not in a rush, so even if someone gets envious or jealous of me and trips me up, I won’t fall down.” Q: How much does Chuu love herself? A: Very much. Recently I’ve learned what I’m good at, when I’m happy, what I Iike, the moments that make me genuine. When I see myself laughing, I don’t feel embarrassed, only that “I like that”. I hope I never change how I feel, and I can be someone who gets tons of love and is full of happiness only. (Source)
- The Neighbor, Nov 2023 - Interview with Chuu (231023)
“I put my honest feelings that I couldn't say into songs.” Chuu, you’ve been doing a variety of activities. What do you really want to do? I have thought that you’ve been doing other activities to lay the groundwork to sing. It’s not that I specifically partake in other activities in order to sing. The work in this area is fun, and matches my dispositions as well. When I sing, there is a different joy, and there are times where I am deeply moved. But with variety shows or photoshoots like today’s, these help raise my self-esteem. Among all the activities you’ve done; web variety, YouTube, going on shows, even photoshoots, what was the happiest moment? While album activities are the most precious and bring me the most joy, all the steps of preparing are fun. More so than the moment that explodes on release, the process of preparation, the tension of anxiously waiting for the joy that comes when people like it; that's a thrill for me, and I'm happy maintaining that tense state. I'm quite tense. It’d be nice to hear about your goal too. A short-term one. Since the album is coming out soon, the short-term goal is to make the fans as well as first-time listeners of my album to keep listening to my music, and to make them curious about my next steps. Thinking a bit bigger, I’d like to go up on an awards ceremony stage as a soloist. Chuu’s vocal skill is what surprised me upon listening to the album. You were this great of a singer? I don’t think I’ve had many chances to let people hear my singing. I’ve sung on live broadcasts and OSTs and such, but I’ve never really shone brightly with my own music in front of the public. So on this album, I prepared carefully in genres that I like and have wanted to attempt, and I aimed to show my colors to the public. I think all these songs are my style and express me well, so I hope you’ll look forward to it. What’s something you wanted to make sure goes into the album? I think the messaging aspect was big. “Howl” is a song that contains my honest feelings that I’ve wanted to speak but couldn’t. I might not look it, but with my personality, I can’t express my problems or inner feelings to others well. This song let me unpack and show my inner feelings that I’ve wanted to pour out at some point, but also wanted to ignore because of awkwardness. I’ve been comforted a lot by this song too. And I’ve unknowingly gotten emotional while singing “Howl”. Like the lyric “my little hero”, I hope it can be a comfort and hope to many people. It’s your first album. I’m sure hopes are high, and it could be a turning point too. The songs I prepared are really good, and I feel certain that anyone who listens to them would like it. So there’s no anxiety, and I hope you will listen comfortably. Please look forward to the next album too. I want to be a Chuu who can make you expectant. It’s an album assembled from shards that suit your image. I think there will be a lot of things that are inside of me, but the public doesn’t know much about yet. It’s my first solo album filled with my voice, so I hope you’ll pay a lot of attention to the voice. People have seen me mostly on variety or ads, so many don’t know how I sound when I sing. When you listen to “Howl”, you’ll hear my unique tone in the medium-low register, and I think you’re going to be startled. And I’ve also changed up my style, too. Bleached my hair for the first time, and vibe-wise you’ll also see this hefty, rebellious side of me that you haven’t before. Seeing from the outside, Chuu makes me wonder how your sense of identity can be so tough. I don’t know either, actually. I think it’s because I don’t take external criticism deeply. If there’s a problem, I just look for ways to resolve it myself, and I don’t really try to tell anyone else. So I don’t exactly know how good I am at bouncing things off, how tough I am. In my work, the joy is much greater, so I’ve almost never thought of it as something hard. One’s twenties are anxious and turbulent times, with new experiences. Aren’t there many friends who struggle with finding a direction for their activities, or get swayed by assessments about them? That’s true. And sometimes assessments of my performances do loom large. Everyone has a different way of receiving that. I think that the path to overcome that kind of hardship is to reflect on yourself and arrive at an understanding, rather than relying on others, and I think it makes you tougher. Just like a wound healing. So while I can console a friend who’s facing a tough situation, and of course I can also receive comfort in that process, in the end I think the most important thing is to recover yourself. Some people lack faith in themselves. What would you tell them to teach them how to not be swayed? Here’s what I’d say. At your age, it’s nothing strange to be swayed. And it’s not a bad thing to enjoy that process. You can’t hope to be happy and safe every single day. Once you’ve overcome that difficult moment, and when you’re looking back someday, I think those things won’t feel so big anymore. And you’ll feel that those events helped your current mindset and thoughts to take root. I try to stare straight and overcome my difficult moments, rather than avoid them. Would I not learn more from that experience, then? How could we give people positive energy, like Chuu does? I think I’m not heavily swayed even when I feel weaker. It’s best not to think thoughts that cause you to hurt. Because those things become poison. I try to only tell myself good things. Try to keep my mind disciplined, only see good things, only eat good things. I found my own method in that way. You have to make time to invest in yourself, too. And the most important thing is to not blame yourself. Where do you think you are right now, compared to your plans? I’m still at the start line. I had this big worry. It’s true that people think of me as cute and give me affection, but what I wanted to do originally was to become famous by singing. I’m grateful for the attention I receive now, but I want to become famous through my album and become more loved that way. I believe that that moment is going to come. And that’s why I think this is just the start. You’re saying that you’ve built a good foundation up until now, right? I used to worry that people might no longer seek me out. Because popularity is something that comes and goes in a flash. I had anxiety too, but my prime has not arrived yet, and I can create something going forward. I’m always going to feel that something is lacking, going to do my best in my future albums, going to work hard to be more loved. Listening to your music makes me curious about Chuu’s sensibilities. What influences you and inspires you and makes you respond? My emotional sensibility comes out of comfort. That can be sad, or happy. My emotions are like waves. Sometimes loud, sometimes tranquil like the morning sea. I think these varied emotions helped my singing. Also, I like funny things that I can laugh with. I look up variety show compilations and “Legendary Running Man” and things like that. I’m a person who seeks out amusement. What’s the most important value in Chuu’s life? First is happiness. And I need mental calmness. The second most important thing is to protect and love myself. The strength to bounce off the hits that come from outside. That’s important. And third is the joy that comes from work. Without that, it just feels like time is passing. Feeling joy from work brings happiness, and calms my mind. Ultimately, what’s most important is what I do and where I find happiness and joy. (Source)
- [Lyrics] Haseul - Plastic Candy (231026)
Shine A Through The City here it bathes in light The moon’s especially clear tonight Like a white glass bead, a silhouette That calls for me once again When I first met the colorless clear crystal, I melted in a moment, no undoing it Oh why am I like this This sweet sensation I know it’s an illusion Yet I keep trying to swallow Clear plastic candy Leaking from within, the soft light makes me dizzier Without even a scent This tiny shard I hold in my mouth again It was certainly so sweet I want to remember you like that Plastic candy filling my mouth I should spit it out But like a habit, to my left cheek I pass you over Clear plastic candy Leaking from within, the soft light makes me dizzier Without even a scent This tiny shard I hold in my mouth again Clear plastic candy Blooming from within, the soft light makes me dizzier Without even a scent A tiny shard I hold in my mouth again Clear plastic candy The soft light even more Without even a scent Shine A Through The City 여길 비추는 달은 유난히 더 선명해 하얀유리 구슬 같은 실루엣 그게 또 날 불러내 무색무채 결정과 처음 마주쳤을때 돌이킬틈 없이 순식간에 녹았어 오 왜이래 나 이 달콤한 기분이 착각인줄 다 알면서 계속 삼키려해 투명한 Plastic Candy 그 속에서 새어나온 은은한 빛이 더 어지럽게해 향기조차 없는 이자그마한 조각을 또 머금네 분명하게 가득 달콤했다고 그렇게 널 기억하고파 입안을 채운 Plastic Candy 뱉어야 하는데 습관처럼 왼쪽볼로 너를 넘겨 투명한 Plastic Candy 그 속에서 새어나온 은은한 빛이 더 어지럽게해 향기조차 없는 이자그마한 조각을 또 머금네 투명한 Plastic Candy 그 속에서 피어나온 은은한 빛이 더 어지럽게해 향기조차 없는 이자그마한 조각을 또 머금네 투명한 Plastic Candy 은은한 빛이 더 향기조차 없는 "Haseul's "Plastic Candy" is a solo track being unveiled at her first concert, Music Studio 81.8Hz. - [Interview] News1 interview with Loossemble (231023)
Reporter Ahn Tae-hyeon Recently, Loossemble met News1 and talked about being at a new starting point, and about how they feel as they wait for the day when the twelve LOONA members will meet again. We have heard their honest words. Part 1: 'From LOONA', Loossemble "starts anew with a rookie mindset... Gained hope" As you debut anew as Loossemble, not LOONA, is there any change in your mindset? ▶ Hyeju: We have started anew as Loossemble, and we are enthusiastically doing things that we have wanted to do before. We are working hard on everything, with the real mindset of rookies. Whether it’s being onstage or doing activities, starting anew like this with the fans brings us a lot of nervous excitement, I think. Going from twelve members to five, it seems like the environment must be quite different compared to before. How are you adjusting to that? ▶ Hyunjin: Going from twelve members’ parts to five, there are now more parts to pay attention to. So we increased practice times as much as we could and tried to make the most complete album we could. From doing activities as twelve members to doing activities as five, what is the biggest change that you feel? ▶ Yeojin: Firstly, wait times are shorter now. Makeup time is shorter, and we get home faster. Lesson times are also shorter. Also things have gotten a little quieter. (laugh) And there’s less of a chance of your food going missing. With twelve people there’s a lot of menu items so sometimes things go missing, and that’s less likely to occur now. And with five members, communication is quick. Other than that, with many members, things are bustling and there’s a lot of people, so there were lots of comforts with that. There was the reassurance, but even with the four others now I feel reassured, so I like that a lot. (Laugh) One part of Loossemble, of course, is to carry on the identity of “LOONA”. While maintaining that prior identity, what other aspects would you like to show that are unique to Loossemble? ▶ Hyeju: We want to carry on the enterprising message that we gave as LOONA. And another differentiating point is that we’ve come back with a song that’s more easy-listening, more accessible to the general public. We don’t really place restrictions on genre, so we expect to continue seeking colors that are unique to us. Did you not have many concerns about debuting after the dispute with your former agency? ▶ Vivi: Actually, at first we didn’t expect to be able to come back like this, and as there were many issues and situations, we couldn’t help but to worry. But thanks to people around us, we gained strength and hope. And so we gathered together like this thinking, “let’s do well”. Are there any genres that Loossemble wants to give a shot at? ▶ Yeojin: We have done many genres so far, so we would like to try any song that would fit us, regardless of genre. Is there any one genre that you think best suits Loossemble currently? ▶ Hyeju: I think it was really difficult to find a song that landed in the middle ground between all five of us. “Sensitive” was just that song. It wasn’t too tough, but it didn’t have too much of a young feeling. I think it had a lot of points that perfectly matched what we could show given our ages. Confident, able to deliver bright energy, but isn’t too light - I think we’re doing a genre that allows us to offer such a performance. Is there any response from the fans that you remember, after the release of the album? ▶ Vivi: Because we first went on a U.S. tour, we saw the U.S. fans’ reactions first, which was so passionate, they really liked it. So we became even more confident. It felt like we gained confidence. ▶ Go Won: The fans told us this time that this seemed like an album we put a lot of love into. As we really did focus on every little thing, and all the members had lyric credits, a lot of preparations went into this album. It moved me very much to see our fans understanding that part very well. ▶ Hyunjin: Before us, ARTMS (where other members gathered) had their release first. I liked to see this the most because I think that gave the fans hope for the future. Also many people responded saying that the song is really good. I felt very proud of this as well. Part 2: Loossemble: "When all 12 LOONA members gather, we want to create greater synergy" How did you prepare for “Sensitive” in the debut album? ▶ Go Won: It contained a bit of the musical feeling that we had done before, as well as Loossemble’s unique traits, and a lot of the direction we would like to move forward in. As we were debuting again after difficult times, we wanted to assure you that our choice was certain. How were the other LOONA members’ reactions? ▶ Go Won: The members even attended our showcase. When they got there they gave us many compliments like “I like this song” or “I like that song”, and said how much we’ve developed. (Laugh) ▶ Hyeju: Also when albums come out, we promote each other on Instagram Stories and cheer for one another. We raise each others’ confidence. In Hyeju’s case, you changed your stage name. ▶ Hyeju: First, I wanted to use a name that more easily rolls off the tongue. And although I love and consider precious the name of Olivia Hye that I had before even now, with the mindset of a new beginning I wanted to let my real name be known a little more to the general public. With Chuu and Yves with solo activities, and other members in the group ARTMS, if there were to come a day where all twelve of you gather, what image would you like to show then? ▶ Hyeju: Nothing has been decided on what style we should do in detail. But when we gather again there is a hope that with each of our abilities improved, we will be able to create an even greater synergy. I would like to not lose the original color of LOONA and carry that on when all twelve of us have come together, and show you songs that are moving. Any hopes or expectations you have for this album, results-wise? ▶ Yeojin: The reaction has been better than I thought, so I told myself, “Let’s not get even more ambitious.” At the start, I thought, “It’s the first release, so even if the response is relatively poor, don’t think too negatively about it,” but the reaction was better than I thought. It makes me think the most about working even harder. ▶ Hyeju: I think that us hoping for certain results brings pressure onto the fans. With results, I think that if you bring good output, results will follow. You’re in a situation where you can aim for a rookie award again as Loossemble. ▶ Yeojin: I’m very much looking forward to that. (laugh) ▶ Hyeju: When we were really newcomers, we really wanted to win the rookie award. You can only receive that award at that one time. If you miss out on it, that’s unfortunate. I didn’t know that we would get another chance to win a rookie award, but if we do win, I think it would be a meaningful award. What is the future as Loossemble that you’d like to create? ▶ Hyeju: As we have successfully wrapped up our U.S. tour, our goal is to meet fans in a wider variety of countries. And I hope to have opportunities to develop as singers individually. I think a good goal would be for all of us to do well until the day we can perform onstage as twelve once again. I would like very much to work happily and healthily. ▶ Hyunjin: As our occupation is one in which we receive love, I hope we can receive lots of love from our fans and the public. (Laugh) Any final words you’d like to say to the fans? ▶ Hyeju: First, I would like to thank our fans for waiting for our album’s release as Loossemble and for supporting us. Thanks to all your love, we have gained a lot of confidence, so I think we will be able to continue activities healthily and joyfully. I want to say that we have missed you so much and that we love you very much. Source: (1) (2)
- [Interview] ET News interview with Loossemble (231017)
[Original article] "Loossemble, 'Five-Colored Allure Beyond the Synchronized Choreo, A Lunar Diary Begun Again'" By Park Dong-sun, ET News Hyunjin, Yeojin, Vivi, Go Won, and Hyeju, who have reappeared under the new name of “Loossemble”, dream of moving forward anew with global fans, with lively charms that span both on and off the stage. Recently we met with Loossemble, who have released their first mini album Loossemble, at the CTD E&M office in Seoul’s Gangnam district. Loossemble is a five-member group composed of Hyunjin, Yeojin, Vivi, Go Won, and Hyeju, who represented points such as cute verve, sharp charisma, and understated sexiness within LOONA. During the interview, alongside a demeanor that spanned seriousness and lightheartedness, Loossemble showed off a new beginning with fans that began with the promotions of their first title track “Sensitive”, and the confidence that comes along with it. The performance has shifted to a captivating vibe. The background for this? Hyunjin, Vivi: Firstly, there is the fact that the choreo team has changed (laugh). If the key focus until now was on synchronized dancing as a 12-member group, this time we wanted to show a new feeling and direction debuting as a five-membered group. The captivating Sensitive and the refreshing, easy-listening Strawberry Soda have contrasting charms. Was there any competition for what song would be the title track? Hyeju: Actually the contender for that was Real World. Strawberry Soda was a bit too lively to show a performance with a different charm. Vivi: Sensitive already had the album’s colors and message included, so it seemed that we would be able to show ourselves with a trendy tone through it. The performance and MV for the title track Sensitive grab attention with members having evolved to a higher level. If each of you were to pick one visual point? Yeojin: I thought I looked really pretty when I was running with a big smile (laugh) Hyeju: I thought my vibe in the intro and chorus was very unique (laugh) Go Won, Hyunjin: The stage is my personal color, no need for words (laugh) Vivi: The title track and concept were to my preferences and in turn, I think it shows that well. If you were to match each of Loossemble’s first album’s B-sides to a member that suits it well? Hyunjin: Hyeju - Sensitive. She goes well with the refined vibe with her sanpaku-eyes. Vivi: Yeojin - Real World. The song’s energy matches how lively Yeojin is. Go Won: Vivi - Sensitive. The song goes back and forth between moderate and energetic. I think it goes well with Vivi unnie’s calmness. Yeojin: Go Won - Newtopia. With her personality of liking songs that make you feel overwhelmed, unnie’s lyrics such as “blocking my view” fit her well. Hyeju: Hyunjin - Sensitive. Her long arms add to her dancing appeal. With the oldest and youngest members of LOONA in Loossemble, the performance and harmonies stood out. How is Loossemble with regards to vocals? Hyunjin: I think the unique voices of Go Won and Hyeju with those of myself, Yeojin, and Vivi present an attractive combination. Yeojin: I think previous rap members trying new things with high notes or vocal parts presents a different charm. With the new transition with Loossemble, if you were to pick what you’re in charge of with regards to charms? Yeojin: Go Won unnie’s the joke-fairy with her way of talking with that hint of silliness (laugh) and Hyeju unnie is principled and has the charm of an unshaking boulder. (laugh) Vivi: Hyunjin is the 4-D visual. For a month she was really into being Aeongie and would only reply with “aeong”. But now, after becoming the leader, I think she has taken the visual position. (laugh) Hyunjin: Vivi unnie’s thoughts are deep and she is a great listener to the members. She is the “tree” and “mom”. (laugh) Go Won: Yeojin is the maknae who’s full of aegyo no matter the location, and Loossemble’s moodmaker. (laugh) Hyeju: I think I’m in charge of attracting female stans. (laugh) What has changed as a member of Loossemble? Hyunjin: I like actively doing things, and as the leader, I like that the members follow along. Just one thing, I’m taken aback when Yeojin teases me about being clumsy. (laugh) Yeojin: Hyunjin unnie gives good reactions so I do tease her often (laugh). Whether it’s LOONA or Loossemble, all the unnies who took up their responsibilities played along well even when I acted rotten. Vivi, Go Won: Getting ready and heading home has become faster (laugh). Everyone’s also very considerate about each of our lifestyles so it feels more free. Hyeju: I’m glad that as Loossemble we’ve released an album and have been able to go on a tour as well. With Loossemble’s new start, who’s the member with the biggest change? Hyunjin: Hyeju’s vibe has done a 180 with her tan. Vivi: Hyunjin was in the maknae line in LOONA 1/3 or even in the full group but now as leader I can see with my eyes that she has developed a sense of responsibility. Hyeju: It feels like Yeojin is more active when speaking and leading than before. With the U.S. tour just before the debut, any new attitudes you’ve formed? Vivi: The response was really great when we showed the performance beforehand through a three-week tour of the U.S. Thanks to that, I gained confidence and was able to be more relaxed for my new first appearance. Hyunjin: I really couldn't predict the reaction to us showing an unknown song for the first time, but I was moved by the fans singing along and cheering. I still can’t forget the cheers I heard through the in-ears, starting from the opening. Go Won: The nervousness of the first performance in the U.S. as Loossemble changed to certainty, the moment we saw the fans in person. With the three-week stage, we got more accustomed to the choreography, so it feels much more natural now. Hyeju: Seeing fans who were on our tour last year come again this year, I felt confident and assured about our music. Yeojin: People recognized us on the streets while we were on tour so it felt like we were celebrities (laugh). I was able to gain confidence as Loossemble. Your new start as five - the most impactful message of support that you’ve heard? Yeojin: "No matter what path you walk, we'll always support you". It made me think that I need to work harder for the fans. Vivi: Fans that we met through the U.S. tour before the domestic debut gave us a bigger reaction than expected and said, "Thanks for coming together," and that made me happy. Hyunjin: The members and fans praise me that my “ribs are visible” (laughs). I figured my preparations before the new promotion must be showing well. Go Won: Yves unnie came to our showcase and said “You guys’ singing was kinda good.” It was a compliment from unnie who worked with us on the B-side track, so I liked that. Hyeju: I felt the best when fans said “This is the best album released to date”. It felt like a validation of our hard work. Five years down the road since the full LOONA debut. Do you think you’ve been walking along alright? Yeojin: Life has many question marks, but I think that if you believe in your path as the right answer, then it’s right. I’ve been walking well every day with that mindset. Vivi: With lots of happenings and new experiences, I think each of those are times that become good influences. I think that will show through a bit better as Loossemble. Hyunjin, Go Won: It hasn’t always been good things happening, but we think that became the motivation to help us do something new. I think being able to meet precious members and fans helped us walk well. Hyeju: I felt myself lacking in many ways after having debuted without any trainee period, but watching myself enjoy the Loossemble debut performance with no regrets, I realized I’ve grown a lot and that I’ve walked well. Any key points for this round of activities, or your image as Loossemble? Go Won: Since this is the beginning of a message that each member is a protagonist, I hope you’ll focus on our many individual parts and the members’ charms that show through in them. Hyeju: Since we’ve started off with a U.S. tour, I’d like to meet even more global fans and express diverse music and concepts. I’d like to be a singer who’s around for a long time through that.
- [Interview] Newsis - Loossemble: “Just like another unit of LOONA… The 12 are forever” (231020)
[Original article] By Chu Seung-hyeon, Newsen The group Loossemble possesses a shadow. It’s the shadow of Girls of the Month (LOONA), which had been their identity for seven years. You can see their origins in the team name itself, a combination of the English name “LOONA” and the word “Assemble”, meaning to gather. The message they want to impart through their music connects, too. The genre may have changed, but the message of “Trust in yourself and boldly move forward” remains the same. Loossemble did not particularly try to rid themselves of that shadow; instead, they await the day when that shadow, shrouded in darkness, will come into light and become clear. After a conflict with their former agency, the LOONA members have separated to form new groups or turn solo. Loossemble, for which Hyunjin, Yeojin, Vivi, Go Won, and Hyeju came together, is one of them. It was not an easy decision to start over under a new name. “We had built up a lot as LOONA, so I worried a lot about whether I’d do well redebuting, or whether there would be any fans who would wait for us.” (Go Won) It wasn’t only the redebut that they worried about. They could never have imagined that they would come to legal battles over unfair contracts against the company they had joined to achieve their dreams. Exhausted by the lawsuit, some members even thought about giving up the dream of being singers. “As big as my dreams were, I was hurting all the more for it. While helping out with my family business, I’d put away most of my thoughts about being a singer. But in that state, I looked up my old performances, and I realized: ‘I still have too much lingering attachments to leave the stage.’” (Hyeju) While some members were feeling lost, the one who became their center was the leader, Hyunjin. As the anxious situation stretched on, when even contact between the members felt wary, Hyunjin worked to ensure that the members would not be scattered any further. Even the reason why she settled down at CTD E&M, formed by CEO Yoon Do-yeon who was a former Blockberry director, was because she was thinking about her team, not herself. “I tried to step up when I could to find a company that would accept all of the members. The reason why I chose this company was because it was willing to bring the other members, too. Vivi unnie and I were in similar circumstances, so we relied on each other, held onto hope, and kept waiting.” (Hyunjin) The fans helped them feel secure about their futures. Even in a situation where they could not easily talk or be active, they sent endless messages of encouragement. “The fans told me, ‘I will go whichever way you go.’ When I thought that it wasn’t just me that was having a hard time during the lawsuit, but the fans had it just as hard, I felt like I shouldn’t just give up here, but I should hold their hand and we should keep going together.” (Yeojin) “One time when I wrote a letter to fans, I told them ‘It’s okay to take a break and come back’. But in that situation, the fans were the ones who told me that. That made me think, “The fans are cheering for me and waiting for me like this. I need to get back up and do this.” (Hyeju) The reason why they went on an international tour alongside their debut was also to say thanks to fans worldwide. LOONA had garnered great popularity abroad, to the point of touring in 13 U.S. cities and in Europe. Coinciding with their debut on the 15th of last month, Loossemble performed across 10 places in America. “Even though we speak different languages, the American fans sing along to all the Korean songs and dance with us. I felt such great energy seeing them even dress up in the same stage fits.” (Go Won) For the disappointed domestic fans, they prepared a field day where they could breathe close by. Near the end of July, they sweated and chatted together with around 100 fans in the Jamsil Student Gymnasium in Seoul, building bonds. Vivi said, “That was before our debut and during the album prep, so we couldn’t show them any music or dance. But the fans still waited for us, and so we were able to hold the field day.” Alongside the new beginning, many things had to change. The team name is a big one, and they also came up with a new fandom name of “C.Loo”. Hyeju voluntarily changed her stage name from Olivia Hye to her real name. Some fans are saddened by the change in these memory-laden names. Vivi said “We explained that C.Loo is a fandom name for the five of us in Loossemble, and Orbit is the fandom name for the twelve LOONA girls, so we’re not abandoning anything and both still exist.” Hyunjin added, “We told the fans that we’ll call them ‘Orbit’ once again when the 12 of us reunite, and they were happy about that.” In this way, even when the music changes, LOONA is an unerasable shadow. Loossemble emphasized that “The fact that we are LOONA has not changed.” Hyeju said “We thought hard about how to reflect LOONA’s colors into Loossemble. Going forward, we want to add some more stories that are unique to Loossemble, so that Loossemble and LOONA can connect. So that when we reunite in the future, nothing will feel disconnected.” The reason that they picked “Sensitive” as the debut title, after monitoring so many tracks, was also because it felt right at home with LOONA. “Many songs have a sense of explosion in the chorus, but this song, just like LOONA’s “Why Not?”, the instruments drop out in the chorus. We felt like that section would become key and be addictive.” (Hyunjin) It’s no coincidence, either, that the song they heard without knowing about the producers turned out to be one that LOONA’s Yves worked on. The side track “Strawberry Soda” had a distinct color, because it was someone who knew LOONA better than anyone. “The lyrics saying ‘Don’t give up, just keep walking’ felt like words that unnie was telling us. And they’re lyrics that comfort her, too.” (Hyeju) “While carrying on the colors from before, I want to show off even more charms of us five. It’s possible that with 12 of us, it was hard to see the individual charms. We filled this up with songs that carry the old image and lore, but that we could pull off well.” (Yeojin) With every step that Loossemble takes, there is a bigger picture of the full group of LOONA. Including Loossemble and also Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Haseul, and Heejin, over half of the members have joined up with people who participated in producing LOONA. Vivi said, “We think that LOONA hasn’t gone anywhere, but just like how we used to have units, we are another one of those units.” “We may be walking our separate paths, but we think our destination is the same. We don’t know when it’s going to be, but there will come a time when we’ve settled into stability and we feel like ‘Now’s the time’. The timing has to line up, so when that time comes we are going to actively do this together.” (Yeojin) The LOONA members are also active in communicating with each other. They’ve been sharing their music with Odd Eye Circle, which debuted earlier, as well as Chuu and Heejin who are debuting solo. They’ve become even tighter after going through hard times together. “All the members came to this showcase, too. They said it felt weird to be performing separately. Chuu unnie was the only one who couldn’t come because of a schedule, but afterwards she texted to say she looked up and watched everything. It’s the same as if she had come. The twelve of us are forever.” (Go Won) Thinking of it as if they’ve passed through a dark tunnel momentarily, and now are crossing different bridges towards the same destination, they’ve gained the peace of mind to enjoy things. The goal is to increase their public stature, each member filling out the things they never got to do before. Hyunjin, Yeojin, Vivi and Go Won have been getting acting lessons constantly. Hyeju has a desire to become successful as a solo artist. “I think the best group is a group that is for the fans. The team can only exist when fans do, and fans can only exist when the team does. If the fans want to see it, whether it’s variety, acting, performance, I want to show them everything.” (Yeojin) “As C.Loos have been waiting, we’ll be very active and show you even better things. Don’t let go of our hand, and let’s make good memories and stay together until the end. We love you.” (Hyunjin)

Just felt oddly different That was it at the beginning Slowly, you show your true colors Sometimes, those jet-black eyes Where might they wander I can’t tell, and I’m curious Two different people Like Mars and Venus At any rate, both in this same Solar System here But you and I surely Come from somewhere farther Drifting before coming here And we’ve come across each other The shape of our eyes, noses, mouths Or the numbers of our arms and legs Even if they were a bit different, it wouldn’t have been strange The way we love Our thoughts, language, conversation style, all different But I like you, the beauty of it all Let’s not force us to be the same We’re different species to begin with Preserve yourself the way you are One might find in sci-fi, this story How could this love be, it’s psychic Definitely some kind of superpower thing Two different people Like Mars and Venus At any rate, both in this same Solar System here But you and I surely Come from somewhere farther Drifting before coming here And we’ve come across each other The color and temperature of our blood Or the location of our brain and heart Even if they were a bit different, it wouldn’t have been strange The way we love Our thoughts, language, conversation style, all different But I like you, the beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all Unpredictable Inexplicable But still we’re fallin’ The beauty of it all 묘하게 다르단 느낌 첨엔 딱 그 정도였지 서서히 본색을 드러내 가끔 그 새까만 눈이 어디를 헤매는 건지 알 수가 없어 난 궁금해 서로 다른 둘은 화성과 또 금성 쨌든 둘 다 같은 이 태양계지만 너와 나는 분명 그보다 먼 곳을 떠돌다가 와서 마주친 것 같아 눈, 코, 입의 모양과 팔, 다리의 개수가 조금 달랐대도 이상하지 않았을 거야 사랑하는 방식도 생각, 언어, 대화 style 전부 다르지만 네가 좋아 beauty of it all 억지로 맞추지 말기 애초에 다른 종이니 너는 너답게 잘 보존해 SF에 나올 법한 story 어쩜 이 사랑은 psychic 초능력 같은 게 분명해 서로 다른 둘은 화성과 또 금성 쨌든 둘 다 같은 이 태양계지만 너와 나는 분명 그보다 먼 곳을 떠돌다가 와서 마주친 것 같아 피의 색과 온도나 뇌와 심장 위치가 조금 달랐대도 이상하지 않았을 거야 사랑하는 방식도 생각, 언어, 대화 style 전부 다르지만 네가 좋아 beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all The beauty of it all 예측할 수 없어 설명할 수 없어 그래도 우린 fallin' The beauty of it all ""Aliens" is a pop track that progresses around tropical-feeling pluck synths and drum sound. Woo woo woo This strange blue light Spreads in my heart Sprawling dizzily My sea Dive, it pulls me in Slowly, I sink below The swaying of those big waves I’m feeling As if possessed, entering this embrace And facing this feeling I’m swimming underwater, feel it A little deeper I sink Into the thicker darkness I plunge No one could know about this place Swayed this way and that I’m swimming, drifting I ask where this might be But I wouldn’t know, a labyrinth in my heart Only I could wander in it Underwater My eyes closed at the silence It’s coming in, this large wave I’m struck and swept away again This cold sea keeps on going Until I’m out of breath It holds my feet, won’t let go Far away I can hear The voice calling to me Now underwater, with me The white light I can see faintly Beckons to me Come, hither No one could know about this place Swayed this way and that I’m swimming, drifting I ask where this might be Silent, a labyrinth in my heart Only I could wander in it Underwater Woo woo woo Underwater Woo woo woo Underwater You wouldn’t know where it ends, this place Freely seeking a path I’m headed towards the sky Wherever I touch becomes a road My stopped time starts to move And I can fill it up again Underwater Woo woo woo Underwater Woo woo woo Underwater Woo Woo Woo Underwater Woo Woo Woo Underwater Woo Woo Woo Underwater "Underwater is an R&B pop track which makes a strong impression with a warm and cozy acoustic guitar sound, minimal beat, and a melody like swimming in water laid on top. The lyrics, which say that it's okay to wander in the emotions that sometimes come for no reason and pull you into the pitch-black waters, combine with Chuu's emotional vocals and magnify the song's atmosphere." Even if the world just ended like this Good, I don’t think I’d feel anything I put up the wall a little higher It’s okay, I’m safe here When I can’t avoid going outside I wear a cloak called a smile I don’t want to be found out But I wish somebody would find me out Oh you know, oh you know, oh you know When the sun sets, get home When the sun sets, get home Let alone the world, we couldn’t save Anything at all, and now we’ll save each other Woo woolf, shout loud, “It’s mayday” Even if the whole world abandons you I’m right here Woo woolf, shout loud, “It’s mayday” Even if God turns his back on me You’re right there Sometimes I’m afflicted by nightmares Then I feel the touch of your hands “So it’s you, my little hero” You’ve got to protect me, until I’m asleep again Oh you know, oh you know, oh you know If you can hear me, get home If you can hear me, get home In this battlefield of a city Nothing but wounds, now we’ll save each other Woo woolf, shout loud, “It’s mayday” Even if the whole world abandons you I’m right here Woo woolf, shout loud, “It’s mayday” Even if God turns his back on me You’re right there 이대로 세상이 망해도 잘 됐어 아무렇지 않을 것 같애 한 뼘 더 벽을 쌓아 올려 괜찮아 이곳에서 나는 안전해 그래도 피치 못할 외출 그럴 땐 웃음이란 망토를 쓰곤 해 들키고 싶지 않아 나를 하지만 누군간 꼭 알아줬음 해 Oh you know oh you know oh you know 해가 저물면 get home 해가 저물면 get home 세상은커녕 그 무엇도 구할 수 없던 우린 이제 서로를 구해볼까 해 Woo woolf 크게 소리쳐 'mayday야' 온 세상이 너를 버려도 나는 여기 있어 Woo woolf 크게 소리쳐 'mayday야' 신이 내게 등을 돌려도 너는 거기 있어 악몽에 시달려 난 가끔 그러다 느껴지는 너의 손길에 '너구나, 나의 작은 영웅' 다시 잠들 때까지 지켜줘야 해 Oh you know oh you know oh you know 내가 들리면 get home 내가 들리면 get home 전장 같은 이 도시에서 상처만 남은 우린 이제 서로를 구해볼까 해 Woo woolf 크게 소리쳐 'mayday야' 온 세상이 너를 버려도 나는 여기 있어 Woo woolf 크게 소리쳐 'mayday야' 신이 내게 등을 돌려도 너는 거기 있어 "Title track "Howl" begins with a unique and distinctive intro that feels like being in space, and Chuu's a capella vocals without instrumentation, to add tension and immersion to the piece. The intense beat and explosive bass-line-based melody in the chorus combine with Chuu's detail-oriented vocals to maximize the song's mood. The lyrics, illustrating how two wounded people become small heroes to each other and heal each other, become consolation for one another in today's age." - [Article] EDaily Interview with Vivi (200930)
[Reporter Kim Hyun-sik, EDaily StarIn] How do foreigner idols, who came to Korea with dreams of becoming a K-pop idol, spend their time? We asked five idols, who are working actively as they roam the music scene in all kinds of ways, about their Chuseok holiday plans. - Ed. note "Orbits, have a good holiday and see you on October 19th." These are the words of Vivi, a member of the group Loona who are busy in comeback preparations. Vivi is planning to spend most of her time over this Chuseok weekend in the practice room, as her team Loona has an impending comeback. Loona will release a new mini album, Midnight (12:00), on October 19 and enter new promotions. "We have the comeback coming up, so I've been practicing consistently with the members and I've also been getting PT. I think I'll still be doing comeback prep over the long weekend, getting dance lessons. Still, it's a holiday and a special day, so I want to eat some Chuseok food with the members." Vivi is the only foreigner among Loona's 12 members. Though she is spending this Chuseok in the practice room with comeback prep, Vivi said she has spent Chuseok at fellow member Hyunjin's home. "One time I went to Hyunjin's place to spend Chuseok weekend. It was a fascinating and cool experience, because I was able to watch how Chuseok meals get made and how they give memorial rites, and really feel Korea's Chuseok culture that way." She says that if she got a vacation on the next holiday, she would like to enjoy refreshments with family. "In my hometown, we have holiday foods that are only sold for two months during the Chuseok period. Just like songpyeon in Korea, we enjoy these during Chuseok and there's a delicious variety, so I think of that when Chuseok comes around." When she looks to Chuseok's full moon, she plans to make a wish about her family, Loona, and the fans. "Everyone is going through hard times because of COVID-19, right. I hope good days will come soon and that I can meet the fans in person and see my family too. And after the comeback, I want to be really active through variety shows, including music shows, and other diverse content with the members, and have a fun time." Vivi, saying "I can't wait to come back and show fans our performances," also did not neglect a request for fans to enjoy Loona's comeback-related content over the Chuseok holiday. "Loona's Midnight album concepts photos have been coming out on social media. Through the diverse concepts you'll be able to feel a vibe and mysteriousness that Loona hasn't shown off before." Lastly, Vivi provided this message for the fans. "Orbits, you're having a joyful holiday, right? The day we can meet is approaching. If you wait for us just a little bit as you look at the Loona concept photos, we'll come to you shortly. Let's have a good time together. Hope you have a great holiday, eating delicious songpyeon." - [Article] VIBE Magazine Interview with LOONA (201029)
LOONA will Invite you to the Midnight Festival With their comeback, LOONA invites girls from all over the world to gather under the moon at midnight to hold a festival together. A mysteriousness that makes me feel like I'm going to be sucked into the subtly strange LOONAverse just by playing the album. But the real LOONA members that met with VIBE were the definition of pure, only thinking about their stages and fans. Q: LOONA has a very unique storyline with the keyword of "moon." What would you say the narrative point is in your latest album? In the last album [#] there was a story about LOONA burning up the moon as a sort of trigger for all LOONAs in the world. In this album, you could say that LOONA expects a new moon to rise, and they hold an exciting festival at midnight with all LOONAs in the world, when the moon shines the brightest. Q: What time does 12:00 represent? Just as it appears, it represents midnight. The number 12 also indicates that LOONA has twelve members. Q: This album you've added the slogan "With all LOONAs around the world," could you explain that? In the previous albums [X X] and [#], LOONA has consistently sent a message for all LOONAs around the world. Until now, if LOONA has been sending one-way messages to LOONAs around the world, in this album we wanted to talk about LOONA being with all LOONAs around the world in a two-way interaction, with everyone being free and equal. Q: There are 8 new songs. It has been 8 months since your last release - what was the driving force for having so many songs? There are many reasons, but we think the biggest one is the love and support that Orbits have sent towards LOONA. We want to show ourselves doing well and always improving. With every new album we think about how we can show an improved and still-improving LOONA, and when we think of Orbits liking our latest comeback, it encourages us with newfound energy. Q: Where there any particular points the members focused on while recording for this album? I think we focused on the mood for each song. As the album contains many moods and song genres, we thought it was important to express the unique aspects of each song too. We tried to make sure that the many people who listen to the album feel its fullness and many colors. Q: The powerful image we got from your last release "So What" seems to be continued here with "Why Not." What do you think about the idea of "girl crush?" We think it's one of the various colors that LOONA can present. If with "So What" we presented charisma and girl crush that was similar to the standard, in "Why Not" we wanted to show you a girl crush that feels more like leadership, with lyrics like "just follow me." We plan to continue thinking about performances that express cool and strong images in various ways. Q: The visual concept for this album really reminds one of a moonlit festival. In what ways did you present images of a festival in LOONA's own style? As this is a festival enjoyed with all LOONAs around the world, we included festival looks with many different vibes. A festival style that's elegant, as if attending a ball, a party version full of uniqueness and dazzling, a casual yet bohemian style version, and a version that shows a festival that everyone enjoys as one - we tried to pull off a lot of different festival looks. Q: In terms of performance, is there anything special about the choreography that takes advantage of having many members, or makes all members stand out evenly? This album holds the meaning that beyond lines, boundaries, and prejudice, all LOONAs around the world are one and always together, so we tried to make everyone feel that everyone is together in the performance. As the people watching LOONA also assimilate to become one, you'll also see a trendy performance that's appealing to the senses, hopefully to enjoy the Midnight Festival with us. Q: LOONA was formed with one member being revealed every month. The unique debut process itself was special and must've required an immense amount of effort. While your activities continue, how about we think back to when you debuted? Every time a member was revealed, I got excited, waiting for the moment where we'd all get together. And I still remember the first performance of "Hi High" where we performed as a full group. Between being extremely nervous and excited, I had a ton of mixed emotions. The cheering of Orbits, and how the members looked by my side as they performed, it's engraved in my memory. During the solo debut process there were unit activities as well, and I remember solo releases and unit activities feeling different. Q: We always leave open the chance of making it onto the Billboard main chart, the possibility of overseas performances including English versions of songs. What do you think are LOONA's characteristics or unique qualities that global fans like? I think it's that all 12 members of LOONA have their own charms and visual traits. Despite being a group with many, 12, members, I think the fans like our unique balance of charm and other vibes that harmoniously add together. Also I think that when we show beautifully composed performances onstage, we appeal in a different way as compared to the cute side we typically show. Q: A message you'd like to send to the fans? I'm always just thankful that for you always loving and supporting LOONA. We want to return even more than the love that you send to LOONA, and we always want to show us doing well. LOONA exists because of Orbits, so I hope that Orbits will stay on our path for a long, long time to come. Orbit, I love you! Original Article
- [Article] NewsEn Interview with LOONA (201103)
[Reporter Hwang Hye-jin, NewsEn] The group Loona (Heejin, Hyunjin, Haseul, Yeojin, Vivi, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Yves, Chuu, Go Won, Olivia Hye) gave their thoughts on entering the U.S. Billboard main chart, Billboard 200, for the first time in 2 years since official debut. According to the U.S. music outlet Billboard on November 3, Loona entered the main album chart Billboard 200 at #112 with their third mini album [12:00], released October 19th. This makes Loona the sixth female K-pop artist to enter this chart, after BoA, Girls' Generation, 2NE1, Twice, and Blackpink. The group is receiving even more heightened attention as this achievement is a first for an artist at a mid-to-small-sized agency. Heejin: It feels like such a dream to make it to a Billboard main chart, which I've only ever imagined as a goal. I think this will be a springboard for our group and give us more confidence for activities in the future. Hyunjin: Firstly this is such a joyful and great thing, and I want to give this gratitude to Orbits and our company family. We'll become a Loona who will work even harder going forward so please watch us!!! I love you!! Orbits. Yeojin: I'm so happy that I get to experience things that cannot be experienced, thanks to Orbits. I'll grow into a Yeojin who repays Orbits' love! I love you. Vivi: It's so fascinating to have entered the Billboard 200 and it doesn't feel real. It's such an honor and I'm so thankful that you send us this much love. I'll make sure to continue working hard and show you even better things. Kim Lip: I think Orbits help every record that we ever mention come true. We definitely said we wanted a Billboard chart-in and it happened this quickly, so I want to thank everyone who has loved and shown interest in Loona from the bottom of my heart. What a great gift to receive in the middle of promotions. We'll be a Loona and Kim Lip who diligently works towards even better performances! Jinsoul: To think of a Billboard main chart appearance, it really doesn't feel real and I can't believe it. It was the kind of chart I only dreamt of, a huge goal, and I'm so happy that we could climb up there. We have a goal of growing little by little with every album we release, and I feel so satisfied that we could achieve the Billboard main chart entry that we had as a goal this time! Thank you so much to our Orbits who always set records for us, and I want to repay them with even better appearances. Once again thank you, and love you Orbits! Choerry: From the beginning of the comeback, we dreamed about entering the Billboard 200 as a really huge goal. I'm so astonished that the dream came true, and I'm greatly thankful to everyone who loves our music! And it made me think that I should work hard to become someone even more awesome! Orbits~~!! Thank you so much and love you always. Yves: I thought the Billboard 200 was always too big of a dream for us, but to see it come true, it's so amazing and joyful! All of this is thanks to the Orbits all around the world, so we'll work even harder so that we won't be ashamed, to become a group that can repay this great love and a Loona that you can be proud of! I love you Orbits. Chuu: I was so shocked to hear that we made the Billboard 200 of my dreams. To be honest it still doesn't really feel real. I want to say thank you so much to Orbits, a hundred times. Thank you, Orbits, for being by our side. Go Won: The goal I wanted to achieve with [12:00] and title track "Why Not?" promotions was making the Billboard main chart, and I'm so happy that we could get this great result. It's something I've always dreamed of so it doesn't feel real yet. It's something we could only achieve thanks to our Orbits, so I want to make sure to say thank you to Orbits. Olivia Hye: Firstly, I'm glad that we got to achieve a goal that we mentioned at the showcase. More than anything, I want to say thank you so much to the Orbits who made achieving this goal possible. - [Article] Hankook Ilbo Interview with LOONA (210127)
"Charting in US Radio Chart Top 40 following BTS... Great honor" "It's an honor to be able to follow after the seniors we admire and be named alongside them." Girl group Loona has made a big splash. They've charted into the Mediabase North American Radio Chart Top 40, a barometer of local popularity in the U.S. Mediabase is a chart that analyzes radio play counts within the U.S., considered a leading metric for gauging popularity among the American public. There have only been four K-pop artists to enter the Mediabase Top 40, including BTS, Blackpink, and Monsta X. Considering that BTS has proven its U.S. popularity by sweeping the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts, and Blackpink and Monsta X have established themselves through major achievements there, this record by Loona who are in just their third year since debut is even more meaningful. Having proven their presence as the up-and-coming global trend, Loona shared their thoughts on the Mediabase Top 40 chart-in through a written interview with the Hankook Ilbo on the 26th. Go Won, first expressing gratitude that "We had this great achievement thanks to our Orbits and I'm so happy," also expressed her aspirations: "We'll become a Loona who works even harder going forward, so that we can help K-pop be known in more diverse ways, following in the footsteps of awesome seniors." Olivia Hye revealed her swelling emotion, saying "It's an honor to be able to follow after the seniors we admire and be named alongside them, and we'll show you great things so that we can be just as good of an influence as much as you love us." Next, Yeojin said "I think of it as an honor that we got to enter this chart following after awesome seniors," and urged looking forward to next steps: "We'll work even harder so that we can show you even more growth as Loona." Entering the U.S. Billboard 200 main chart for the first time last year with third mini album [12:00], Loona accelerated their popularity there. Not only that, Loona also set own records including entering the U.S. Rolling Stone Top 200 chart for two consecutive weeks and the U.K. official album download chart Top 100, evidencing their rapid global growth. Loona, having captured the U.S. music market not to mention the domestic one, were asked on the secret traits that helped them capture global fans and named the spirit of trying diverse concepts, members armed with diverse charms, and the "Loonaverse" worldbuilding that connects these things organically. Jinsoul said "We try to include songs from different genres in each album and try new concepts to show off different sides of us, and I think people enjoy that. With each album release we are always thinking carefully about what new thing to show you next." Further, Yeojin said "The unique thing about us is that the Loonaverse story is well-incorporated into different corners of the album. I think many fans enjoy this lore and the connections between members and units. And I think they look fondly on our music and performance too so we're always working to improve these things too." Olivia Hye added a response full of affection for the members. "Another strength is that all 12 members have distinctive character with personality, based on different charms. Along with our strong lore, I think this might be why global fans love our music." As they garner attention for notable achievements on domestic and foreign charts despite the coronavirus pandemic, Loona wrapped up the interview by expressing plans for continuing to interact with global fans via diverse "untact" [no-contact/remote] activities. Olivia Hye expressed disappointment regarding the COVID-19 circumstances, saying "As this unfortunate situation has persisted for a while, our disappointment at not being able to meet the fans and our longing to see them are growing." Continuing, she spoke about her goals: "However, many people have been working hard to give us a chance to meet fans in ways like online concerts, video call fansigns, and untact interviews. Alongside diverse content like this, we're going to keep making and planning opportunities to interact with fans in real time. Though we may be physically apart, we want to help Orbits feel that Loona is always by their side." Meanwhile, Loona opened recruitment for the third cohort of its official fanclub "Orbit" on the 22nd. Orbit 3.0 recruitment will continue until the 5th of next month. Original Article
- [Article] Elle Korea Interview with Hyunjin & Chuu (210927)
The Running Girls, Chuu & Hyunjin The brave girls who still want to do all these many things together, running, straining, sweating. Words by Lee Ma-roo for Elle Korea October 2021. We saw you two are considered standouts among the 12 Loona members in athleticism. Tell us about your athletic experience. Hyunjin: I must have inherited athleticism from my parents, because I was born with good fitness. I grew up in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, and in fifth grade I won first place in the city's shot put competition, and also played a lot of sports at school like table tennis, basketball, soccer, and badminton. Chuu: I did taekwondo starting at a young age. I was smaller than other kids, so my mom had me do sports. As for running I did it from second grade through middle school. Always went up for relay races. How have you been exercising after debut? Chuu: These days I mainly end up doing home training, and on nice days I go running by myself at Hangang. Setting up days to go with the members is nice too, but I like to go on a whim when I want to run. Chuu also appeared on Running Girls with Sunmi, Hani, Chungha, and YooA, right. Chuu: While running with the unnies, I realized running is related to life and routine, to identity. It was also great to run through an unfamiliar land, rather than where I always run. Hyunjin: As I watched that show I wanted a crew that I could run with like that. You can rely on each other when you're together, right. What was a moment that empowered you lately? Hyunjin: Tokyo Olympics! The sport climbing especially looked fun. I have long arms and big hands so I think I'd be good. Chuu: I often feel like I can't focus, and watching the archery national team I thought they were amazing. I also thought how they have to focus within a given time period is similar to when we go up on stage. What do you tell yourself before you go on stage? Hyunjin: "I can do it!" "I am the best!" Chuu: There was a time when I lost confidence in whether I was handling powerful performances as well as the other members. At that time it helped to tell myself "I am the best!" The attractive thing about running is that you definitely feel that you're moving forward. As Loona, when have you felt confirmation that you are moving well, step by step? Hyunjin: When we won our first music show with "So What", and when I see us randomly on the TV at places like restaurants! Chuu: When we do outdoor shoots nowadays, there are more people who recognize us like "Wait! Isn't that Loona?" People also post to social media about seeing us. Whenever I see changes like that, I feel pride that we are growing. For Chuu and Hyunjin right now, what is life's core? Hyunjin: I think our fans, Orbits. It was not easy preparing for "PTT" last time, but I got through it by thinking "The fans are waiting with high expectations, I need to be tenacious to show them an even better myself!" Chuu: I imagine myself on a stage that I'd like to be on in the future. 10 years ago I imagined myself attending Hanlim Arts, and five years ago I imagined myself performing on stage, and that's how I got here. I think we and Orbits have become a big community now. If I imagine us on an even bigger stage together, I think my dreams might keep coming true. Your workout playlist? Chuu: I listen to Chungha unnie's "Chica" a lot. When I met her on Running Girls I proved it to her by showing her my music app screen. (Laughs) Hyunjin: For me, Max's "Acid Dreams". It's even my phone ring-back tone, my favorite song. What sport would you like to play together? Hyunjin: How about badminton? Chuu: Hey, let's go! I want to play catch too! I've always wanted to exercise together with Hyunjin. I told her "Let's go to a gym together" several times, too. I also really like team jump rope, and if we do another Chuu Can Do It Athletics Competition with the members, I want to be on Hyunjin's team.
- “1st Look” Magazine, Vol. 260 - Interview with Heejin (230629)
First pictorial shoot in a while, right? How was today? It’s been quite a while since I’ve stood in front of a camera. I’ve been wanting to do a pictorial. It’s so much fun to shoot for different concepts. Today there were a lot of outfits that felt unfamiliar, and vibes that were difficult to express, but the staff helped me a lot and the photographer especially took care and pointed everything out down to the poses, so I was able to have fun and do well. It was such a joy. New challenges are always exciting and fun. From a classic image to modern appearance, we wanted to properly convey the beauty that Ms. Heejin possesses. Thanks to the compliments, I filmed with even more confidence. I think I’ve heard several years’ worth of the word “pretty” today. (Laughs) Before we met today, I’ve been thinking about what kind of person Ms. Heejin is. Today we’re meeting outside the context of a group or promotion, so what word would be best to put in front of your name. In your own opinion, what’s the most appropriate word to describe you? Mm, it’s a hard question to answer with one clear word. Rather than an appropriate word, I do have a word I’d like to hear. Someone who has a broad spectrum, or a ‘hexagonal’ Heejin. It’s nice to have one image that represents me, but I want to be someone who’s not limited to something, but could instead become anything, someone who can try many different things. Not just your position on stage, but as a person, right? Yes, I enjoy trying out new challenges and work hard not to put any limits on myself. On thinking, work, relationships with others, tastes, anything. When someone describes me, I’d love it if they say “This girl has great breadth.” If I could ask for more, it would be even better if they say “she’s someone who suits everything, and is good at everything.” But position-wise, aren’t you already that hexagonal all-rounder? Wow, I’m so grateful that you see me that way, but I personally know too well where I’m lacking. More for me to work on. In particular I have the desire to improve my singing ability. I think what remains for a long time is the voice more than anything else. I want to let my voice be known a bit more throughout the world, and impress it upon more people, so I’ve been hard at work on vocal practice. You have a lot of nicknames and descriptors that fans have given you. What’s your favorite? The ‘Nonsan Juliet’. (Laughs) I think it’s really witty. There’s a bit of a twist in putting the words ‘Nonsan’ and ‘Juliet’ next to each other, and honestly Olivia Hussey, the ‘Juliet’ there, is such a beautiful person. It’s an honor that they gave me a role played by someone like that as my nickname. If I could pick one more, ‘Jeon Hwihyeol’. It’s from an internet novel ‘Ban Hwihyeol’ and apparently it’s because my actions and words feel like they could be out of such a ‘net novel’. Like a tsundere male protagonist? It’s a fun nickname so I enjoy it. Is there anything that people might be getting wrong about Ms. Heejin, or misunderstanding? To be honest, while it might be a bit upsetting, I don’t tend to worry much about that. No matter how people think of me or judge me, it might be unpleasant at that moment, but I quickly forget and don’t dwell on it. And I don’t really try to correct them forcefully. I think I just need to stick to my center, and act rightly and truthfully. Then how about something that you haven’t shown much of, a charm that you’d like to show more of to fans? I want to show more performances, for one. Recently I’ve also started acting lessons. To be honest I thought I didn’t have much to do with acting, but now that I’ve begun, it’s such an interesting and new world. I haven’t gotten deep yet, but as I act out different characters, I’ve been experiencing diverse emotions and different lives. It gave me more interest in the people around me, and made me think deeply about people and the world. So I’m learning a lot. Oh, speaking of which, let me change my answer to that other question! The one about what people have wrong about me. A long time ago I filmed this web drama. People who watched that are getting the wrong idea about me. Please forget that. (Laughs) Thinking back, I think I did poorly then because I was too young. Please look forward to a more improved and grown Heejin. Could you pick one positive and negative trait about yourself? My personality is seeing something through to the end, once I’ve said I’ll do it. I’m strong-willed and persistent, and even if I’m just doing one thing, I try to make it perfect. That’s a positive that I like about myself. And I have so many negatives, but first of all, I’m too hard on myself. I often bind myself in a suffocating way. I’m pretty lenient to other people, but I can’t do that for myself. I overthink and get cautious, and have high standards. The more promotions I do, I realize I need to break out of myself more, so I’m working on that these days. Other than the acting lessons, what else are you up to lately? I’ve been doing schedules here and there, filming content, taking lessons. I’m also exercising a lot and studying English. I saw the videos where you traveled to Busan with the ARTMS Project members. You seemed very excited? It was so much fun! It was my first time traveling to Busan for fun. It wasn’t even really a filming - we just hung out on our own. The staff filming also told us to not mind the cameras and do whatever we wanted, so I really had fun without any pressure. The wide open Haeundae sea was so pretty and nice. And one of my bucket list items was to eat multteok. Busan multteok, so delicious. It’s been a long time since you’ve traveled with friends around your age, right? It might even be the first time, almost. That I’ve enjoyed a full trip that wasn’t for schedule or work. Even trying to go somewhere with friends, it’s hard to make schedules work, isn’t it. So I think I was able to make a meaningful time out of that. Any other exciting things you’re planning? I think this will have happened by the time this interview is published, but I bought tickets to the Bruno Mars concert! I’m so looking forward to it. Way up front! I made a playlist to listen to all day, I’ve been watching concert videos, and I've been so happy every day waiting with excitement. I think it’s an opportunity I’ll never get again in my life. Seeing the path you’ve walked, you seem like a really enterprising, go-getter kind of person. With a lot of drive, too. Where does that energy come from? Mm, my personality has always been bright and positive. I have high standards for myself, but also crave challenges. I try to think of everything simply. With relationships with other people, or attitudes towards work, or views on the world, I don’t hate or worry or fear. Even if someone wrongs me, after some time it all goes away. When I run into difficulties, I try to resolve it as best as I can. Whether it’s people or the world, I try to be as genial as possible in how I look at and treat them. Before you were able to announce a new beginning, a lot of different things happened for a while. How did you feel going through that time? I always think: ‘This isn’t the end’. If I may carefully say this, I had a strong wish to show people that this wasn’t the end for me, and I never wanted to give up. I have a great desire for the stage, and to show even more things to the fans, so I think I went through that well while looking forward to ‘what’s next’, not ‘the end’. What helps Heejin endure tough times? The stage. There are a lot of hard things that happen before you get on stage, right. Get up early at dawn to prepare, practice, and standby. But the moment I get on stage, all of that just washes away. I really felt the euphoria of the stage during our tour. It was a really tight and punishing schedule, but even though I felt like dying up until performance time, I would forget all of it when I actually got on the stage. The shouts and cheers of the fans, our music filling the venue. The stage is truly my motivation, and a precious space that I’ll never give up for anything. You must really miss the fans who enjoy that stage with you. Yes. I could practice a hundred times in the studio, but it’s completely different than performing once on the stage. That’s because the fans are there. It’s been quite a while since I’ve met them, so I really miss them. The fans are - and honestly no matter what words I use, I could never express it fully - people I am so grateful for. Frankly, the path we’ve walked hasn’t exactly been the most peaceful one, right? And yet they never went anywhere, always kept our side, these dependable people. So I’m thankful for them, but even more than that, I feel apologetic. So we have to repay them with even greater things. I talk about this with the members often. “Our fans are really incredible. Let’s do well.” Starting from your 2016 solo debut, you’re now in your eighth year. A word of praise for yourself, having run all this way? You’ve started working at quite a young age, and now you’re all the way here. I’m glad that you didn’t collapse and endured well. I know you won’t falter easily in the future, either. I hope you’ll trust in yourself and do well moving forward. Heejin of the past, thanks so much. (Laughs) And a word for people who are watching you? I believe that I am a strong person. I’m going to make sure I show you good things going forward. Please trust me and continue to watch me. For Heejin who believes in herself, what’s a saying that you believe in? Mm, the saying that “humans are dust in the universe”. I used to be really into science and space and stuff and watched all these videos. The universe is vast, and expanding infinitely. Thinking about Earth, and humans, and myself in the midst of that, suddenly whatever I was going through didn’t seem so important anymore. Of course it’s tough and difficult in the moment, but taking a long perspective, I felt like I could overcome it. I think that I should not make rigid rules, not box myself in, not be anxious, but live as a speck in the universe, focusing on the ‘now’, and doing my best. Being faithful to each day. Diligently, joyfully, as a speck of dust today!
- [News] Hankook Ilbo: "[Exclusive] LOONA Yves declares ‘going solo’" (230706)
[Exclusive] LOONA Yves declares ‘going solo’... “Grateful for fans who stayed beside during difficult times” (Interview) Yves, from the girl group LOONA, is setting out on her own. Members of LOONA, who have recently gained independence, have each signed exclusive contracts with new companies and are preparing for new beginnings. After careful deliberation, Yves has decided against accompanying the members and is walking her own path. [Next two paragraphs provide a recap of recent events] In order to work on music that contains her unique color, Yves has settled on pursuing solo activities. While it was regretful to break away from the members who had gone through thick and thin together and start working alone, the importance of the moment necessitated a firm decision. Yves met exclusively with the Ilbo to share recent updates and discuss the path she would like to pursue going forward. A Q&A with Yves follows. How have you been doing recently? “Right now I’ve moved out of my dorm, and am living with my sister and adorable cats. There’s space at home to get work done, so I’m splitting time between there and a studio to work and also am having meetings. Going through busy days. I also started a blog recently, and many people seem to enjoy my photos and words so I’ve been writing there diligently and enjoyably. “ Other members have signed contracts with new companies but there’s no news on Yves yet. So many people are curious. “There were things I couldn’t accomplish given some circumstances that I couldn’t control, and as I worked on composition and lyric-writing, I had the growing sense that I wanted to craft and pursue ‘my unique color’ musically. I don’t have an agency yet, but I’m meeting with many agencies carefully and seeking a place that could embark on a new beginning with me.” We’d like to hear about the music that Yves is pursuing. “I normally listen to and work on music without regard to genre. But in particular I like rhythmical and dreamy R&B as well as pop punk with satisfying band sounds. The fans have adored the charm that comes from the gap between my fierce appearance on stage and how I look when I’m smiling wide, and I think there’s a similar sense in my musical genres, so I think I’ll be able to show diverse looks going forward.” What kind of artist would you like to become? “As much as people love the Yves on stage, I would like to become an evergreen artist who shines on the stage, improves consistently, and doesn’t forget her roots. Also, before my debut I learned acting briefly, and I thought that was so attractive. I found myself wanting for opportunities in the past, and I would like to learn a lot of acting and study it diligently, so that if I become ready someday, I can expand my palette to acting also.” Do you have a solo artist role model? “Avril Lavigne sunbaenim and BoA sunbaenim! Watching their unique colors that stay distinctive over time, and their singing skills and performances that never get rusty, every time I think to myself, “I want to be like that too”.” Any words you’d like to tell the members? “I think they’d hate it if I made it long. Haha. This feels cringey even after years, but I love you, and I think the person I am today only exists because of the members, so I am so grateful to you.” What makes Yves happy? “Maybe this is an obvious answer, but it’s the fans. We had many happy moments but also many difficult circumstances, so they could just as well have left me. But the fans supported me quietly from my side, and I would like to tell them, thank you so much. And I want to make sure to repay you.” Do you have a motto or goal? “My motto these days is ‘No matter what!’ There are so many dreams I want to achieve no matter what, people I want to make happy no matter what, so lately I’ve been earnestly repeating in my head - ‘no matter what’. I’m certain that there will be exhausting moments in the future, but I would like to be a tough person who doesn’t regret my decisions, and a person who can find my center again even if I am shaken. And I’d like to continue working hard just like now, to become an artist who is respected in many dimensions. Please look upon me kindly! Yoo Soo-kyung, Hankook Ilbo Source
- [ENG] Yeojin Interview with MKSports (230729)
[Link to original article] By Kim Na-young, MKSports The era of 15 million pet population. Pets play a big role in the lives of many, to the point that we now view them as family. For an owner, a pet is always a source of pride and a bundle of love, one that you keep wanting to see no matter how much you see them. [MK★PETerview - Yeojin, formerly of LOONA] Yeojin, who debuted in August 2018 as a member of Loona, has a lovely family member named Dubu. Yeojin, who says that she was able to endure difficult times thanks to Dubu, has wrapped up a conflict over her exclusive contract with former agency Blockberry Creative, and is set to embark on a second act with new agency CTD ENM. Yeojin has dear feelings for Dubu, whom she had a fated encounter with, and holds stronger principles regarding pet dogs than anyone. She emphasized, “I wish people who abandon or abuse pets wouldn’t bring them home to begin with. If you can’t take responsibility, I hope you will wait until you can.” What’s the name of your pet? And what does it mean? My dog’s name is Dubu. I heard somewhere that pets live long if you name them after a food, so I was debating what to name her, and since I like tofu I named her Dubu [tofu]. How old is your pet now? When is the birthday? Dubu is a little over a year old now. Her birthday is February 8th. Curious about how you first met this pet, who’s become family. Mm… The first meeting felt a little special to me. I used to go around visiting abandoned dog shelters. Pretty and cute puppies are loved by everyone, but I figured abandoned dogs would long for someone’s love, so I wanted to bring home an abandoned dog, but I found that the procedure was not easy. But at that time, a friend of my father’s contacted me. Saying that they had just had a litter of puppies. So I ran over right away. And the puppy that caught my eye the most was Dubu. That was our first encounter (laughs). Please boast about any talents your pet has. Our Dubu is a genius puppy. She can do “shake”, “nose”, “V”, “spin”, “high five”, “lie down”, “bang!”, “yes”! She can do it all, and not only that, but her existence itself is a talent. She’s such a lovely friend. Are there any special treats that you prepare for your pet? Or if there are any treats that your pet likes, please let us know. Dubu is allergic to many foods so I avoid those, but she likes salmon treats, eel treats, and sweet potatoes. Though honestly she’ll eat anything you give her….. Hahahaha. When you’re busy with your schedule, there must be times when you’re not able to be with your pet, and I’m curious about how you resolve that. When I’m not able to be with her I leave Dubu with my parents, where our older dog also is. Fortunately our first dog really likes Dubu and yields to her a lot, so they get along well. When have you been the most grateful or encouraged by your pet? I’m always grateful. I may be a lacking mother, but because I had Dubu who only looks towards me and waits for me and loves me quietly, I got a lot of strength looking at Dubu even during hard periods, and I wonder if I could have endured those times without Dubu. Dubu is my family, beyond being a pet, so she’s a bundle of love that I’m grateful for every moment and gives me strength. There are many animal-related programs these days, so is there a show you’d like to appear on together? Mm… I’d like to meet instructor Kang Hyungwook once. Because actually Dubu has a unique habit, you know? Whenever I touch the curtains, she acts weirdly. So I would like to know why whenever I so much as touch the curtains, she turns from an angel to a devil. Mr. Kang Hyungwook, please help me. What does your pet mean to your daily routine? Number one in my daily life. I can eat when I’m hungry and do anything I want, but dogs can’t speak, right. What they need and what they want to do. So I think I care more closely for Dubu than for myself. I guess I could say she’s another me? Dubu is a precious family member that I can’t do without in my daily life. Lastly, as a pet-owner, if you have thoughts regarding fostering a responsible pet culture, please provide a word. A pet is a family member. You don’t just bring one home because it’s cute and pretty, rather it’s a family member that you really need to give your best to with a sense of responsibility. So I wish people who abandon or abuse them wouldn’t bring home a pet to begin with. This might sound a little harsh to the public who’s reading this, but as someone who raises a dog, I can’t understand the actions of those who abuse or abandon. If you can’t take responsibility, I hope that you’ll wait until you can. Even at this very moment, many pets are being abandoned and wander through the streets. So I’d like to say that the actions that hurt precious lives should go away. There isn’t even enough time to give them love. If you’ve brought one home, please cherish it.
- [Interview] Singles Korea - "The Girls Grow: Odd Eye Circle" (230823)
To grow is to endure a certain period of endlessly filling yet never feeling satiated. Odd Eye Circle, finally having passed through a path that was like a tunnel lit in flickering lights, handed the second mini album to us like a badge. One moment she’s humming along at a bite of strawberry cake, and the next she’s crestfallen at her friends’ secret talk that leaves her out. Days when she feels unfamiliar even to herself, changing her expression many times a day. Penetrating through the center of youth, there isn’t anything that they can fully understand. Then again, it’s not that they know nothing. A cold and incomplete season, with a gaping hole somewhere. The girl endures this, and soon enough she grows. The cotton-soft greeting that Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry first extended to us six years ago was called ‘Loona’. And they grasped each other’s hands tightly in the unit ‘Odd Eye Circle’. Time empties and fills many things. The Moon waxed and waned dozens of times, and the members must have cried and laughed thousands of times leading up to today. Crossing through girlhood in that way, and having just passed the threshold of a new season, they embrace each other once again. Under a new name of ‘ARTMS’, under the firm solidarity called ‘Odd Eye Circle’ once again. Now, after they’ve learned to see the gleaming hope in the word “someday” instead of the threatening despair beaded on its uncertainty, the silent and still moonlight that had pooled at the tip of their feet begins to ripple. The concept of today’s pictorial is ‘memories of summers past’. Is there an old memory that comes to mind? Jinsoul: I saw the fish tank and goldfish among today’s props and they reminded me of filming for the music video of “Singing in the Rain”, my debut project single’s title track. Because there’s a lot of fish tank and goldfish in that music video too. I slipped into those memories for the first time in a while. Kim Lip: When taking the sparkler photos, memories of going to the beach with friends and playing with fireworks bubbled up to mind. Choerry: Maybe today’s shoot itself will be another memory once time passes? (Laughs) Unlike pictorials I’ve done in the past, this one has kind of a mature mood so it’s going to be memorable. You recently finished promotions for the second mini album . A comeback after six whole years. Jinsoul: I was really nervous to stand in front of fans as Odd Eye Circle for the first time in so long. I worried whether we could satisfy the expectations of fans who liked our music before, and I felt a sense of responsibility that I need to show development from these six years. I rewatched videos of old activities to return to the beginner’s mindset, while also reflecting growth in this album. Kim Lip: I’m so thankful to the fans who waited, and we also realized once again how precious the stage is. Now we are hard at work practicing for the Europe tour to come soon. It’s really not a short amount of time. What has changed in the interim? Kim Lip: Six years certainly is long, but this is just our second promotion as Odd Eye Circle so it also feels short. So our mindset is still the same as at our debut. The only thought as we prepared the album was, ‘Let’s work hard, it’s our first one in a while so let’s really work hard.’ How about on a personal level? Choerry: First of all my looks became mature. (Laughs) I also think my personality became a little more grown-up. To be honest, before I used to be unable to say no and would beat around the bush, to the point that other people would get frustrated for me. I’ve become honest to my own emotions and become a little more precise and certain in my expression. Jinsoul: I’ve gotten a bit more brazen. Look at my debut stage and you can see me petrified. I wasn’t able to hide my nerves at all, but I guess now I’m pretty adept at pretending not be nervous? I still do get nervous. (Laughs) Kim Lip: For me, mm…. Choerry: Unnie gained more aegyo. A lot more! Haha. Do you agree? Kim Lip: I think so. Before, I used to tie myself down with rules that I came up with, like ‘a female idol needs to be this way’. But I’ve met lots of people who truly love me, and I came to understand that even if I don’t force myself to laugh or pretend to be bright, these people like me for the way I am. So when I’m really happy I laugh wholeheartedly and express it, and that’s why I think people around me feel like my aegyo has grown. The name of the ‘Odd Eye Circle’ unit and the new ‘ARTMS’ project name are both related to the Moon. Deep in the night, with the Moon in the sky, is also a time when one can be true to oneself. When you’re alone at night, how do you spend your time? Kim Lip: I’m always spending time near music during the day, so when I’m alone I want it to be as quiet as possibe. I turn out all the lights and sink into thought in silence, or I put on jazz music that I like and lie down and think about various thoughts, and that’s how I spend time. Jinsoul: I’m a huge homebody, so I spend a lot of time at home alone. Lately I’ve been concentrating on cleaning the house. Or I watch YouTube or Netflix, or play games. Choerry: I’m a little different from the unnies. I have music playing all day long. Just like background music. Then when I get carried away, I have a bedroom concert on my own, dancing while looking at the mirror or window. On days when I want to stay calmer, I either draw, or if I’ve spent a lot of energy that day, I have tea time. (Laughs) It’s a collection of such different personalities, so are there not many occasions where opinions conflict? Picking a lunch menu, for example. Choerry: Before, we would be all wary and yield to each other, so we would just keep repeating ‘What should we eat’ and go back and forth. But now, we just follow the person who was first to mention what they want to eat that day. It’s our unspoken rule. Jinsoul: At the same time, we do look out for each other. For example I’m the type to just eat the same thing over and over again when I get into that thing, but even if I’m craving kimbap today, if we’ve ordered that too often lately, I suggest something else. I’ve heard that Jinsoul likes ‘red food’. Curious what food you’re into lately. Jinsoul: Since I live alone, delivery food portions are quite large for me, so I ate a lot of ramyeon. Especially Bibimyeon. I ate Bibimyeon on five days during the week leading up to the comeback. (Laughs) I understand that Choerry likes fantasy movies. Tell us a memorable one you saw recently. Choerry: I rewatched for the first time in a really long time. Before I only focused on the scenes themselves, but upon rewatching, I grasped the foreshadowing and hidden meanings underlying that movie. It was a different kind of enjoyment than when I saw it previously. When you debuted, all three members were in adolescence or had just become adults. It can’t have been easy to begin your working lives at an age when you’re emotionally quite sensitive. Do you recall any words that gave you comfort? Choerry: There was a time when the unnies used to tell me often: “You can talk to me at any time.” Every time I heard that, I used to remind myself that I had precious people who protect me, right next to me. It would give me strength, and make me vow to get along even better with the unnies, to live diligently, and to love myself more. Kim Lip: A fan I met recently told me, “Thanks for getting back up on the stage.” So I told them, “I’m even more thankful that you told me that.” And they replied: “I would have cheered for you even if you chose to do something else, instead of being a singer.” It made me more emotional than anything else I’ve heard recently. Jinsoul: I think about the word ‘someday’ often. I use that a lot when I’m giving advice, and even when I myself am having a hard time, I tell myself “It’s going to get better someday” and feel comforted. ‘Someday’ implies an uncertain hope. So personally I’ve thought of that as a negative word. But I think Jinsoul knows how to focus on the hope rather than the uncertainty. Jinsoul: That’s why, whenever I use the word ‘someday’, I only use positive phrases with it. ‘You can do it’, or ‘Once this passes this will be a good memory’. To be honest, I used to be the type of person who worries a lot and makes it harder on themselves. But as time passed, and as I grew, I naturally learned how to see myself in a positive light. And after that, I became a little more able to focus on the hope that this word carries. What is Odd Eye Circle, to each other? Jinsoul: They’re just as close to me as family or best friends, and sometimes I can share with them certain things that I can’t even tell those people. So it’s difficult to define this in the form of a relationship that exists elsewhere. I think this is a relationship that can’t be described with any other example. Kim Lip: But one thing I can definitely say is: this is a relationship so precious that we’re really grateful for the very existence of each other. So you’re saying that “Odd Eye Circle is Odd Eye Circle to each other”? Choerry: Yes. Exactly. (Laughs)
- [Interview] Men Noblesse - The Words ARTMS Would Like to Say (230927)
[Link to original] [Instagram text via https://www.instagram.com/p/CxsJqR8JztV] One summer day before the scorching heat had left, we met five girls who are embarking on a new voyage under the name of ARTMS. After seeing them, lifting themselves off of a hiatus, we felt from them responsibility rather than anxiety, excitement rather than worry. Perhaps to some people, their greeting - “Once again together, we move forward towards the Moon and beyond” - might feel like a mere reckless aspiration. But it seemed that in this starting point of ARTMS’s, an identity of being LOONA and an authenticity towards Orbit were still inscribed within. And they made sure to not forget gratitude for the fans who had supported them silently thus far. Check out the story of ARTMS as they emerge anew in the October issue of and the official website. You will be able to sense the members’ resolve, a shade firmer now. Dreams and happiness, as expressed by them. Jinsoul You fit today’s photoshoot concept the best. When I think ‘Jinsoul’ I think of the blonde hair image. A lot of fans still seem to be unfamiliar with your black hair. Really? Thank you. (Laughs) Honestly I still want to bleach my hair. Because I think black hair has this strongly chic and haughty image. You recently finished Odd Eye Circle’s Europe tour. Could you tell us about something that you felt there. That was the first time we’d held concerts as the Odd Eye Circle unit, so a lot of it felt new. And I felt a sense of responsibility that the three of us needed to fill out that big stage. So I prepared really diligently, to the point that I was holding “bedroom” concerts even while taking breaks in our lodgings abroad. I wanted to show everything that I’d prepared back in Korea. Speaking of, you were on a world tour around this time last year as well. Right. LOONA’s first world tour. I still can’t forget the reactions of the fans I’d encountered for the first time there. It was even more enthusiastic than I’d hoped for. Their support back then has remained with me as an afterimage, and gave me a lot of motivation for this tour. Your first move following the full group activities was a unit promotion. It must have felt special preparing for that new album. The fans always called us, Odd Eye Circle, the ‘summer unit’. Even when we didn’t do any summer activities, they would tell us around that time, “I started supporting you”, “I’ve been waiting for this time”. I’m proud that we elicited good reactions this past summer, too. You can’t always be in a good mood while performing, right. I’m curious whether there haven’t been any tiring moments. Of course there have been. When I’m having a hard time, I just accept my current state and leave it the way it is. It’s not like I’m very high-energy even normally. That’s to say, even if I’m feeling sad, I don’t force myself to feel happier. Thinking, ‘This will become a memory someday too’. Maybe you’re not the type to get hung up on emotions. That’s not true. I’m quite sensitive, to the point that I get nightmares when I’m even a little stressed. But if I force myself to get over that, it just gets worse. So if something really difficult or sad happens, I record my emotions in a diary. After time passes and I reread it, I often think, “It really was nothing, and I was so hung up over it.” It’s my method to let go of my problems. LOONA has many members, so I suppose you might have had many moments where you had to compare yourself to other members. I’m not a soloist, so I think that’s inevitable. But what I can do is convert that comparison into more positive values. And extend that into a resolve of “I should improve”, and “I should make the foundations even firmer”. Becoming a distinct person, through unique individuality and charms, is an important task for me too. I looked it up, and you’ve just passed the midway point of your twenties. How would you like to live out the rest of your twenties? I’m starting the second half of my twenties at a new company. First, I’d like to gradually open up the diverse sides of myself that I never got to show you. There is so much that I’d like to do. And I’d like to show you a more musically mature version of my twenties. Choerry When I watch Choerry’s performance, I can sense a special energy and will. Made me curious about your mindset when you step onto the stage. There’s nothing really profound, but I feel a sense of responsibility that “I need to share the joy inside of me with this audience”. The intent to get the audience’s butts bouncing in their seats. (Laughs) I try to concentrate on the performance in order to do that. Born for the stage. When did you get that mindset? It’s been so long that I can’t remember. Ever since kindergarten, I liked to dance in front of people. I would enter any neighborhood event that might serve as a talent show. Looking back, I think I started learning then that the audience’s cheers and reactions are precious. And that even a little support can become motivation to step onto a new stage. Wonder if you also remember your debut performance. Of course. It took a very long time for the twelve of us to debut as a full group. I remember feeling emotional and heartened to see the fans filling all those many seats. It was a performance full of nerves, but I tried to show them a performance beyond my abilities. It hasn’t been long since you returned from the Odd Eye Circle Europe tour. What’s changed compared to your debut performances? One thing for sure is that my mind’s more at rest. Before, I thought something terrible would happen if I made even a little mistake. Now I’ve learned to just enjoy the stage for what it is, without pressure. But of course it’s best to minimize the mistakes. (Laughs) Do you have something like a set of values that you’ve strictly held to in your activities, without others knowing? “No matter what hardship comes, I need to hold onto my beginner’s mindset.” Well, it’s not a secret. I say this all the time, so I’m sure everyone around me knows. (Laughs) To be honest, I used to not think too much about the beginner’s mindset. I figured that, even if I live in a slightly different manner than when I started, I’d be okay as long as my mind was in the right place. What made you change your mind? My family’s advice. After I debuted, at some point my mother started emphasizing the importance of the beginner’s mindset. I pondered about it, and I realized that the decision to become a singer made me the person I am today, and it was still supporting me, as my roots. I think it’s such a special value that I can’t compare it to anything else. And it’s something to keep protecting, the way I am doing now. Haseul A belated congratulations. How was your birthday? Had the happiest birthday ever, thanks to the fans. I realized I’d never spent my birthday with fans after debuting. So this year, I visited places that the fans prepared for me and had a good time. I think I saw the post you made on social media. The fans must have been very thankful, too. I should be the one who’s thankful. It’s such an honor that they even remembered that most special day. And since I’m joining this team, I’m planning to have lots of occasions to communicate with fans. Speaking of which, you were the last to join ARTMS. What were some things on your mind as you prepared for that? I had a lot of thoughts about having to show some different colors as a team, and as an individual. That’s the same reason that I started working out lately. I thought I might be able to show some undiscovered charms as I put effort into exercise. This is an old matter now, but in the past you took a hiatus of about a year and a half. It seems that you also had a lengthy period to ponder back then. Back then, I think I didn’t take very good care of myself while focusing on activities. Those concerns felt a little different than what I have now. Still, the members took good care of me for that year-and-a-half, so I was able to return without much difficulty. I was able to fill the lengthy hiatus thanks to the members’ help. When I heard that you were returning, it made me think that you were a courageous person. Because it might be easy to halt activities, but restarting them is difficult. When I stepped out to the fans, I did worry first and foremost. During my hiatus we’d released two albums, and we had achieved a music show win. But LOONA had prepared an environment where I could move forward again, whenever, wherever. Because the members and my family all knew that I would return. I was thankful that they all believed in me, without doubting. Was there a phrase that helped to toughen yourself, whenever you were exhausted? It’s such a common phrase, but whenever I’m having a hard time, I remind myself that “time takes care of all”. So many things happen as you just live. Worrying about each of those things just tended to create burdens for myself. Even if anxious and difficult times come, I hope I’ll never lose my center in this wide world. Because this is the path I’ve chosen. Kim Lip I heard that your stage name became Lip (立) in the sense that you “established Odd Eye Circle”. All this time I thought you were Lip because your lips are pretty. People have that misunderstanding and I’m grateful for it. I like that actually. (Laughs) As you say, it means “the beginning of Odd Eye Circle”. Maybe that’s why I have a lot of affection for unit activities. I approach the stage with the mindset that I built this. Since you’re the Odd Eye Circle leader, you must feel special responsibility for unit activities. Is that responsibility ever matched by pressure? Honestly, it never was during the early days. I was just busy getting through the performances. But this time around, releasing the second mini album , I felt a bit of that thing called pressure. It was a re-debut after so long, so I think all the members probably felt similarly. Five years and eight months since the last album, apparently. That’s right. I was also really nervous because I felt all the attention and focus would be on us. I’d have felt pressure even if I wasn’t the leader. But the members all really felt like we wanted to use this as a milestone and get through it well. We thought of this comeback as an opportunity for Odd Eye Circle and even ARTMS to grow. Turn risk into an opportunity. That’s a leader’s mindset. We had been waiting for this for so long. Me, the members, the fans, everyone. I didn’t want to let us all down from those expectations. And I felt, desperately, how precious the stage is in the meantime. I’m proud that we’ve gained another good opportunity. You were in Paris, France just a few days ago. Is there another place you’d like to visit on tour? I’d love anywhere, but we haven’t gotten to the U.S. yet. There are many ARTMS fans there too, and if we had the chance I would go even right now. You just went all around Europe. Doesn’t it tire you out to perform abroad? Of course not. Even as I’m pouring out my energy on the stage, I see the fans’ reactions right in front of me and it all comes roaring back. I know all too well that many people are cheering for our path. So I think to myself, “I’ll never let myself be tired when I’m standing on stage.” Because the stage is not a given. I’m curious what gave you such firm resolve. Looking back, while doing activities as part of LOONA, I think I had been intoxicated with the familiarity that the fans and the stage gave me. And then the bad things happened, which made me long for everything more desperately. Odd Eye Circle may not be the full group, but I was thankful that we could even come together like this. And the fact that I get to do this song once again, with these members, with this combination. Maybe that’s why I kept saying thank you to the members. Thanks for being with me, and let’s keep fighting together. It’s the reason why I feel such particular gratitude for this opportunity. Heejin You’re busy with solo album prep these days, right? Many fans are already expectant. That’s right. I’m going to work hard at it. I hope the end product is worthy enough to meet those expectations. What’s something different compared to when you were revealing the solo “ViViD” in 2016. What’s most different is that I’m actively involved in the production this time. I’m suggesting ideas in almost every facet. Not just the lyrics but even in areas like costume and choreography. I think this solo album is probably going to end up as the product that I’m most attached to. Could you provide a brief hint about the concept of the new song. It’s not quite a hint, but I think the keyword of “escape” could explain it. What’s something you want to hear before anything else from the fans after the solo album is released? Unlike LOONA, where twelve of us share a stage, solo activities mean that I need to handle that whole stage on my own. So the feedback I want the most is, “she’s someone who can fill up that stage on her own”. I would want nothing more than that. Fans often say that you’re “full of ambition and passion”. I’m curious how you feel when you hear that. Honestly, I’m surprised that that’s how I come across. Because to me that’s such a natural way of life. When I’m facing a goal, my mindset is “just go at it”, no matter what happens. When you move so passionately, surely sometimes you get tired. Of course, but when I’m tired I enjoy that time for what it is, too. To some people, being tired could also seem like a good problem to have. I think getting to work on the stage is such a precious opportunity in itself. Let me guess: you’ve never dreamt of a life other than being a singer, right? You’re right. Thinking back, I’ve honestly never thought of any other path. I came all this way with just one tenacious will, to become a singer. Surely I must have gotten sick of this job at some point, but even now, it feels like the stage gives motivation to my life. Just like a sense of certainty in myself, in my dreams.
- Vibe Magazine - Ask Anything: Loossemble (230922)
[Original article link] Q. How did you feel when you first heard that the five of you would be debuting under the name ‘Loossemble’? Hyunjin: I was very much looking forward to it because this was a new combination, and I was also curious about the fans’ reactions. Yeojin: Since only five of us are promoting, it felt very empty and I could feel the missing presences, but I’m focusing on the fact that we can show you new sides of ourselves. Vivi: I was like, what is Loossemble. But when I thought more about it, it felt like a simple name that can encompass the past and present and future, so I liked that. Go Won: At first it felt a little awkward, but I really liked the meaning behind the name Loossemble, so I kept saying it frequently and got used to it quickly. Hyeju: It felt a little unfamiliar, but we all came from the same team, so I adapted quickly. Q. Curious to hear about something fun that happened between the members recently. Hyunjin: It’s fun even just looking at each other’s faces, it makes us laugh. Yeojin: There’s this word we use the most recently. It’s “Andromeda”. We practice late at night, so we often get our formations or choreographies mixed up, and in those times we often say we went to Andromeda and came back. Go Won: We saw Hyunjin doing shoulder stretches, and that looked interesting so we started copying her one by one, and now the members do shoulder stretches whenever we have a moment. Hyeju: It’s fun to watch each other mentally fall apart in practice! Q. Favorite tracks for each member? Hyunjin: Track 7. Because I wrote the lyrics :) Yeojin: Colouring, because I participated in lyric-writing. Vivi: Day by Day Go Won: Track 6 which Yves unnie gifted to us, Strawberry Soda! Hyeju: Colouring! Q. Tell us some stories related to Loossemble’s come(back de)but. Hyunjin: As we planned for the debut preparations, we came up with lots of ideas and participated throughout during this prep period. Yeojin: When we picked out our debut songs, we listened to each song available, and our opinions were pretty well-aligned, so it went quickly. Vivi: For the first time, we listened to the music together and picked them out. Go Won: Since this is a comebut, we had to get mics, nametags and other things re-done, but it all felt so familiar! Hyeju: During the MV filming there were so many scenes where Go Won unnie and I had to look at each other and smile, and it was hard to be looking at each other. Q. What are some concepts you’d like to attempt going forward. Hyunjin: I’d like to try an energetic concept in the house genre. Yeojin: We’ve attempted a different concept every time, and actually I think we are a group that doesn’t know any limits, so I think we’ll pull off any concept well. Vivi: Summer or dark concept! Go Won: I want to try a sporty concept, where I can put on an exciting performance on stage and play around happily. Hyeju: I’d like to try a more mature concept too. Q. Every member participated in lyric-writing for this album. Is there anything that gave you inspiration as you wrote? Hyunjin: I was debating about how to write it, and I wanted to express myself in a straightforward and innocent way, so I was inspired by my members and the fans. Yeojin: I really like flowers, and each member reminds me of a different flower, so I was thinking about the members as I wrote. Vivi: I think I wrote while thinking about us Go Won: C.Loos! I wrote out the story that I wanted to tell C.Loos. Hyeju: I came up with keywords to think off of, then expanded from that like a mind map! Q. Curious to see what acrostics Loossemble could come up with using “Sensitive”, the title track. Yeojin: Sen - They’re making us do an acrostic with Sensitive Si - They would never, I thought Ti - Guess I have to promote obviously Ve - Please give lots of attention to our bravo Sensitive Go Won: Sen - Got sense~ Si - So sweet~ Ti - Unblemished and innocent~ Ve - Bravo! So awesome, Loossemble! Hyeju: Sen: Sensation itself Si - Please come back to Seoul Ti - Ticket, I’ll buy another one Ve - Bruno Mars Q. Give us one track and what situation would be good for listening to that track. Hyunjin: Sensitive - when you want to clear your thoughts and enjoy the rhythm! Yeojin: Strawberry Soda - in a cafe with nice vibes Vivi: Day by Day - when you want a touching mood Go Won: Real World - set it as your alarm and go from dream world to real world~! Hyeju: Colouring - when you want to get calm late at night Q. Which member has changed the most while preparing this album? Hyunjin: I think Go Won uses different tones to accentuate songs in this album, so Go Won. Yeojin: Yeojin, as I lost weight I think I’ve gotten a bit more mature. Vivi: Hyunjin I think, since she’s the Loossemble leader~! Go Won: Each of us grew more and more with a new mindset, to the point that I can’t choose one person. Hyeju: I think all of us worked on this album in a more active stance. Q. Something that the members would all like to do together, or a place to travel to? Hyunjin: Travel vlog~!~!~! Going to Guam!! Yeojin: Reality filming in lodgings with a view of the ocean. Vivi: Japan. Go Won: I wanted to go to America one more time and I’m so glad that it happened! And I’d like us all to go to the amusement park. Hyeju: Want to try reality content of a courage-testing experience!

According to multiple legal professionals, Loossemble’s agency CTD ENM has recently won a lawsuit filed by Blockberry Creative, which had petitioned for injunctions including a ban on performances. Earlier, Blockberry Creative had filed a civil suit against CTD ENM claiming that it could not engage in entertainment activities using terms equal or similar to “LOONA”, “LOONA ASSEMBLE”, or “LOOSSEMBLE”. Had Blockberry Creative’s petition been granted, Loossemble would not be able to use its newly created name. As the group had just released their debut album and embarked on the tour “Loossemble the U.S Debut Ceremony”, they would have been unable to avoid a significant setback. However, with this recent court decision, Loossemble will be able to continue using its new name. This also represents a green light on Loossemble’s domestic activities that will follow their U.S. tour. It is particularly notable that the court has determined that the credibility, reputation, and commercial draw attached to the names 이달의 소녀 [“Girls of the Month”] and “LOONA” accrue to the members after the effective suspension of the exclusive contracts. That is to say, this decision increases the latitude of future activities for not only Loossemble, but also Chuu, ARTMS (Heejin, Haseul, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry), and Yves, all LOONA members who have departed Blockberry Creative. Meanwhile, Loossemble released its debut album Loossemble on the 15th, and is in the midst of the “Loossemble the U.S. Debut Ceremony” tour. ARTMS has successfully completed the promotions of its first unit Odd Eye Circle, and is preparing Heejin’s solo album release and Haseul’s mini theater concert. Chuu is also set to debut solo on October 18. Yves has announced a solo path forward, and is preparing for new activities. The Electronic Times, reporter Lee Geum-jun

- [News] StarNews - "[Exclusive] LOONA Lawsuit: Blockberry Has No Plans to Give Up" (231003)
[Original article] By Yoon Sang-geun, StarNews While every member of girl group LOONA (Heejin, Hyunjin, Haseul, Yeojin, Vivi, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Yves, Chuu, Go Won, Olivia Hye) has won a favorable decision in their contract termination lawsuit against the agency Blockberry Creative (hereafter Blockberry), freeing them up for entertainment activities, Blockberry still has no plans to give up. [The middle part of the article recaps the events thus far] As all have won their injunctions in the lawsuit to suspend the effect of their exclusive contracts, it seems that they will not experience significant restrictions on their activities for the time being. But the matter is not closed, legally speaking. Indeed, Blockberry appears to be banking on a reversal in the primary lawsuits. Blockberry has already objected to the ruling in their primary suit against Chuu, who is already preparing for solo activities, in a case they lost in August. They have appealed, and a hearing is scheduled for October. Further, Blockberry is also currently engaged in a second primary suit in the Seoul Northern District Court. The SNDC’s 11th Civil Suits Division (Na) has scheduled a second hearing date for November 16th, in the case to determine non-existence of exclusive contract effect involving Heejin, Jinsoul, Kim Lip, and Choerry. Speaking with StarNews, Blockberry officials continue to maintain that “We have done nothing wrong. We find it simply absurd.”

- [Interview] Heejin Interview with E-Daily "Doldam" (231002)
[Link to original - part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3] By Kim Hyun-sik Through ‘Doldam’ (idol + 談), a segment of one-on-one conversations with idol musicians, we seek to deliver honest stories from them. Part 1: “Returning as a soloist, happy to have many dreams to fulfill” Heejin (full name Jeon Hee-jin) is coming back. After promoting as a member of LOONA and clearly impressing her charms and talents upon K-pop fans worldwide, Heejin is poised to release a solo album and mark a new beginning this month. “I’m already excited. I’m doing a lot of image training, imagining myself standing on stage.” That was Heejin’s response when asked about how she felt about the upcoming solo launch, as we sat down for the ‘Doldam’ interview at Modhaus, located in the Gangnam district’s Cheongdam-dong in Seoul. It’s a return to activities after a long hiatus, and so her sentiments and resolve both appeared special. This is Heejin’s first time coming to fans with a new album in a year and four months, the last being the release of LOONA’s summer special mini album Flip That last June. “I’m sure the fans feel the same way as me. I’m occupying that stage as a soloist, not a member of a team, so I’ve been working to show a more perfect self.” Heejin was the first member of LOONA, which garnered attention for a promotional pattern that revealed members one by one and progressed from solo to unit to full group, under the concept of “meeting a new girl every month”. While not promoted on broadcasts, her solo single with “ViViD” as its title track was released in October 2016, heralding the start of the project. Heejin smiled as she said, “I wasn’t sure whether to call this a solo debut or comeback, but our CEO said it should be called a comeback.” Looking back, she then said “I’ve been so busy preparing for the solo debut in September, shooting for the jacket and music video.” “I have thought for a while about wanting to promote as a soloist. I really like challenging myself in new ways. So even if people say that something is foolhardy, or that it’s not the established path, I don’t want to give up before I even try. I’m the type to just go at it, believing that the attempt itself is meaningful. If it doesn’t work out, then it doesn’t. Not even trying would be a shame.” Heejin, who says that her character is one that enjoys challenges and boldly forges ahead, emphasized that she’s been deeply involved across different elements of the solo album production, imbuing it with her color. When asked for a hint that will raise expectations for the solo album, she smiled widely, saying “I think it’s going to be an extension of “ViViD”. The fans will probably be quite excited at that sentence alone.” “In 2016, when I released “ViViD’, I was such a baby. I think I could carry the liveliness and colorfulness from that time, while showing off a more mature feel. And back then, I was just carrying out what was given to me. But now that I’m coming up with ideas for album design, lyrics, outfits and many other areas, I have even greater hopes for this promotion. I like to draw, so I had this dream of wanting to draw my own album cover or logo, and I’ve been able to produce something similar for this, so I hope you’ll look forward to that too.” Heejin is set to release that solo album in late October. She’s hard at work on the final touches preparing for the launch. What kind of goals does Heejin have in mind as she embarks on solo activities. “My goal is to make sure that my music circulates a lot on YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels. I hope to see lots of videos that use my solo album songs as background music. As for long-term goals, I think it’d be fun to be on an end-of-year awards ceremony as a soloist. And I also would love to win a terrestrial network music show, which we didn’t get to do as LOONA. I actually like that I have so many dreams I haven’t achieved yet. Because it means I have more that I can still achieve.” Heejin also revealed a wish to gradually expand her genre spectrum. “I’m not someone who specializes in rapping so this would be tough right now, but someday when I’m more developed and mature, I’d like to try a hip-hop song. And I like to play guitar too, so I’d like to practice more properly and incorporate that into my music.” Part 2: “I wanted to stay with the LOONA members, and not be separated” Only after a convoluted saga of a legal dispute over exclusive contract rights with her former agency was Heejin able to make a new home at Modhaus and prepare for her solo launch. When asked about the time before her new beginning, Heejin began by saying “It truly was a hectic time”. “There were things needing to be resolved with the former company, and people were directly contacting me and the other LOONA members seeking to hold us accountable, so there was no peaceful day. As I was looking for a new company, I didn’t want to rush into a contract. I believed that this could be the most important decision of my music career, so I deliberated carefully for two months before I came to Modhaus.” What’s notable is that Heejin chose Modhaus as her new home alongside LOONA teammates Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry. She revealed the backstory: “I had many calls from other agencies, including acting-focused management agencies, but I refused various offers because I wanted to be somewhere with the members, not on my own.” Additionally, she said, “At the time, Modhaus was the only place where all the members could move together.” “It wasn’t as if the team was disbanded, and those circumstances were not caused by any issues between the members but rather by external problems, unjustly and unfortunately. So I think we had this mindset of, ‘Let’s stay together longer, instead of splitting up.’”. Due to differing timelines in the conclusion of the legal disputes, not all LOONA members could band together under the same roof again. Among the other members, Hyunjin, Yeojin, Vivi, Go Won, and Hyeju moved to CTD ENM and began promoting as a new group, Loossemble. “These are members that have a lot of idol experience under their belt, so rather than looking at this like “They’ve split up into cliques”, I hope you’ll respect the thoughts and choices of each of us and support the new beginnings.” As for Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry, who moved to Modhaus with Heejin, they came together as Odd Eye Circle in July for a new album and promotions. While Heejin is preparing a solo album unlike them, all four will continue promoting under a project called ARTMS. “Just because I’m releasing a solo album doesn’t mean there’s no relation to ARTMS. I’m planning to meet fans through various activities as a member of ARTMS and also as the soloist Heejin. Recently, I went to Greece, a location that fans voted on, with the other members for a filming schedule. And I’m set to appear in a concert that Haseul unnie is putting on in October.” As they are four rather than one, the new home doesn’t feel unfamiliar. Heejin brought up a story: “One day in the group chat with the ARTMS members, I was sharing about the hardships of solo album preparations. Kim Lip unnie sent a lengthy message in the middle of the night, about knowing how it must be so difficult to prepare alone and encouraging me. I remember the tears flowing as soon as I read the first line of that message.” She emphasized, “The members are a source of so much strength for me.” Modhaus also happens to be a company led by CEO Jaden Jeong, who directed the production of the LOONA project. It’s one reason that attention is focused on Heejin’s Modhaus activities to come. “He’s the person who helped me to debut, and the one who selected the LOONA members. He’s someone I’ve known since middle school, who knows me so well. So I think I’m going to feel so comfortable while promoting. Even before I joined Modhaus, he shared a clear plan of ‘Let’s have OEC promote first and then go into a Heejin solo,’ so I felt reassured.” Modhaus is home not only to ARTMS but also to rookie group TripleS. TripleS is a group that’s generating interest through a unique promotion pattern, in which dimensions (units) formed by fan votes are continuously generated. Heejin, who has a mountain of experience after starting in the K-pop industry with a solo single, being in the unit LOONA 1/3 and debuting in the full group, also offered a warm encouragement to her agency juniors. “They have a similar system to LOONA in some ways, so when I look at TripleS I’m reminded of the old days. It’s definitely different from starting out as a full group from the beginning, so I hope they’ll overcome that well and work hard, and I hope they’ll also be close with us, ARTMS.” Part 3: “Just like IU sunbaenim, I want the best of both worlds” Heejin, who possesses visuals that encompass clarity and splendor as well as vocal, rap and performance skills, received a great deal of love during her LOONA days while being called a “hexagonal idol”. When this was brought up, Heejin said “I’m so thankful”, while also growing shy: “I’m allergic to compliments, so this is embarrassing.” “Ever since my trainee days, many people have held me in high esteem, to the point that I felt like I was praised too much compared to what I was doing. And I’ve been putting in the effort to become a balanced idol, not lacking in anything, so that I can live up to those expectations. I think when I promote as a soloist, my skills will be more visible to the public and to the fans. So I’ve been taking careful stock, and improving the places that need improving.” Heejin also displayed a unique marketability since the early debut days, arising as a blue chip in the advertising space. She starred as a model for many brands, including the popular LG Electronics smartphone and Hi-Mart ads. Heejin smiled, saying “The smartphone ad was well-received, which helped me to receive a lot of offers. I want to keep being active in the ad space.” Interestingly, while one would expect Heejin to have had a smooth course to debut, she only became an idol trainee after failing almost 20 auditions. Heejin reminisced: “I loved to dance so I dreamed of being an idol since sixth grade, and starting in my first year of middle school, I auditioned at many agencies while commuting between my home in Nonsan, Chungnam and Seoul. But I failed every time, so I was told to give it up.” “My parents were against me becoming an idol. I think at the time, they thought that being an idol was a light profession. So while they let me attend the dance academy in Daejeon, they didn’t support me auditioning. Actually, my mom knew I was going around to audition, but she hid it from my dad. But when I kept failing, eventually even my mom told me to give it up.” Fortunately, there were people who supported Heejin’s dream at the time too. Heejin recalled, “I used to go audition with help from my sister who was in high school and a friend.” “To go to Seoul and back, I needed about 50,000 won in fares. That was a lot of money in middle school, so it was tough to travel to audition without support from my parents. So my sister used to give me the money she’d made working part-time, telling me to use it for the fares. And back when my parents wouldn’t even allow me to attend the dance academy, a friend that I still keep in touch with paid for the academy registration instead, in a story I’m so grateful for. Of course, I did pay back the money later (smiles).” Heejin, who started the trainee life after a photo she posted to Instagram linked her to her former agency, is now in her eighth year of being an idol. She said, “I often get asked what else I would have done if I wasn’t an idol, and I’m so satisfied with this profession that I’ve never thought of any other work.” “When I was little, the glamour was what made me dream of being an idol. But after debuting, I learned that I really love the stage. Even when there were difficult things going on, performing relieved all of that. Even during the LOONA tour last year, there were a lot of difficult things externally so I had no time for mental care, but I still enjoyed the stage. I enjoy this work that much, and so I want to keep doing it for a long time.” Heejin, who says that she’s “a type that needs to do what I want to do”, has gained a great deal of interest in acting this year. She also noted that she appeared in the recently released Web drama Convenience Store Baejjangie as the female lead, Sarang. Moving beyond the “hexagonal idol” and taking steps towards the “jack-of-all-trades idol” who also has acting ability, Heejin said “Before, watching shows and movies wasn’t a hobby of mine, but this year I’ve been studying acting while watching different works.” “I got interested in acting when I saw “Moon Lovers” one day, as it popped up on the algorithm randomly. As I saw IU sunbaenim’s acting, I realized it was possible to have the best of both worlds, music and acting. After that, I looked up everything that IU sunbaenim and her co-lead Lee Joon-gii sunbaenim was in, and naturally I begin to want to try acting.” Saying “I’ve been practicing even harder because my acting instructor has praised me a lot”, Heejin expressed a wish to continue challenging herself in the acting side as well. “Apparently idols are well-practiced at humility, and always need to be smiling, so they have difficulty drawing out bad emotions to be angry and shout in their acting. So I actually want to try a villain role (smiles).” From the solo album planned for late October to attempts at acting. Expectations for Heejin’s future activities in diverse arenas are soaring. “I feel guilty towards the fans who have been waiting for new activities for a long time. As much as you’ve been waiting, I want to repay you by showing you good things. And I want to meet with more fans, promoting not only domestically but also abroad. I want to tell the fans: “Let’s keep staying together and do this well.””

Following the light engraved in old memories Seeking the path we’d walked very far along When I reawaken my dream, everything comes back alive Unfolding the feelings I’d grasped, I take another step forward Riding the grazing breeze, already here Into our world, to be filled with new stories Day by day, it grows clearer In a world full of dazzling light This place we’re together in is unfamiliar but beautiful For a better day, fly higher To that place glowing in many colors Dreaming of that endless sprawling day For a better day Always together in tears and laughter (you’re my sunshine) When I stretched out my hand, always in that same spot You embraced everything, my star (mine and mine only, shining star) Adorning my heart full With a dream engraved deeply, I take another step forward Day by day, it grows clearer In a world full of dazzling light This place we’re together in is unfamiliar but beautiful For a better day, fly higher To that place glowing in many colors Dreaming of that endless sprawling day For a better day Believe I believe forever Believe we'll walk on a rainbow Believe I believe forever We will be one I take another deep breath That day when we’ll join into one, more splendid The dreamed-of universe One and only wonder world The moment of destiny comes Day by day, it grows clearer In a world full of dazzling light This place we’re together in is unfamiliar but beautiful For a better day, fly higher To that place glowing in many colors Dreaming of that endless sprawling day For a better day 오랜 기억 속에 새겨진 빛을 따라 아주 멀리 함께 걸었던 길을 찾아 다시 내 꿈을 깨우면 모든 게 되살아나고 움켜 쥐었던 맘을 펼치며 한걸음 더 내디뎌 스치듯 바람을 타고 어느새 이곳에서 또 다른 얘기로 가득 채워질 우리의 세계로 Day by day 선명해져 가 눈부신 빛으로 가득한 세상에 함께 있는 여긴 아름다워 낯설어도 For a better day 더 높이 날아 오색빛깔 찬란한 그곳으로 끝없이 펼쳐질 그날을 꿈꾸며 For a better day 울고 웃던 시간 속에 늘 함께 했던 (You're my sunshine) 손 내밀면 같은 자리에 변함없이 모든 걸 안아준 My star (오직 나만의 Shining star) 내 맘 가득히 수놓아 깊게 새겨진 꿈을 담아 한걸음 더 내디뎌 스치듯 바람을 타고 어느새 이곳에서 또 다른 얘기로 가득 채워질 우리의 세계로 Day by day 선명해져가 눈부신 빛으로 가득한 세상에 함께 있는 여긴 아름다워 낯설어도 For a better day 더 높이 날아 오색빛깔 찬란한 그곳으로 끝없이 펼쳐질 그날을 꿈꾸며 For a better day Believe I believe forever Believe we'll walk on a rainbow Believe I believe forever We will be one 크게 숨을 들이켜 다시 더 멋진 하나가 되는 그날 꿈꾸던 Universe 단 하나의 Wonder world 운명의 시간이 돼 Day by day 선명해져가 눈부신 빛으로 가득한 세상에 함께 있는 여긴 아름다워 낯설어도 For a better day 더 높이 날아 오색빛깔 찬란한 그곳으로 끝없이 펼쳐질 그날을 꿈꾸며 For a better day Lyrics by Hyunjin (Loossemble) Composed by C'SA, Bymore Arranged by Bymore

Cause you’re the one I discover you, I’m drawn I can’t stop myself In that dizzying world, the problems Of yours and mine, no need to pay mind We’re on the moon right now (now) Baby tell me, hidden secrets Maybe that is the edge of this world Hurry, and also remember Our unique code Get it over with, at last Take me away! Hold my hand I know it’s just never over baby That moment we’ll dive into the bright red sky The magic starts, as for mood, feel so high It spreads sweeter, sometimes sour Don’t know what it is but Like strawberry soda It’s time to dream, alright? Make a move Make a move ya ya Make a move (Ohh na na) Make a move Make a move ya ya ya ya (Ohh na na na na na) Following the wavy sound Bet u wanna go with me now? Your everything My every day, We’ll never know Feel the wave, to an even stranger place Even if we tangle and drift apart The dream you’ve written, recognize A gift of a wilted flower probably means You don’t stay no more The heart racing for no reason, keep it up That forgotten and abandoned shard, show it all Oh my! Don’t hesitate Alright! Just gotta keep walking I know it’s just never over baby That moment we’ll dive into the bright red sky The magic starts, as for mood, feel so high It spreads sweeter, sometimes sour Don’t know what it is but Like strawberry soda It’s time to dream, alright? That beautiful light out Even if it only seems So far away Holding me up Over the moon Falling with u That moment we’ll dive into the bright red sky The magic starts, as for mood, feel so high It spreads sweeter, sometimes sour Don’t know what it is but Like strawberry soda It’s time to dream, alright? Make a move Make a move ya ya Make a move (Ohh na na) Make a move Make a move ya ya ya ya (Ohh na na na na na) Following the wavy sound Bet u wanna go with me now? Once covering the vision, the clouds are breaking The numbers that had stopped move again Soon now reaching, ready for the landing You and I will newly write down this story It feels familiar but different, can’t explain Following the tip of the star-adorned orbit All the city’s lights reaching me Speak to me warmly In front of my eyes New new new new new Newtopia It’s cooler than I imagined Oh, others don’t know about Newtopia, open the door Draw a deep breath Even the air tastes sweet The scene you’ve dreamt of every day Is in front of you New new new new new Newtopia I wanna show you, the strengthened worldview We’re extending further, chapter but more higher level I want to tell you the stories I’ve kept saved Because there’s more hidden, hero’s travel This is like a Christmas present, spin-off Wherever we go, riding Loona Assemble Open the next page, it’ll gleam under moonlight Trust, happy ending. - [Lyrics] Loossemble - Colouring (230915)
This seemingly familiar emotion The day forgotten naturally Like the footsteps left under that summer I’m always lingering around you The day when I opened my eyes to darkness The very first words I wanted to tell you Are already in faraway space, unreachable They’re gone, everything, not even a little, not remain You make me bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom Brighter than any flower, colouring I want to meet in a different space Deepen in color and then bloom You become my star Faint color deepens, in that light (And I don’t really wanna go through the end) Our season will begin again An oil painting drawn, ours alone And blooming within, a flower That’s our peony The days I wandered in long darkness That day when I recovered you, the light that illuminated My life turned 180 degrees Changing one by one Could never get any better Let’s make it our restart You fly me again when I’m with you Boundaries disappear, don’t need a rule Come near me Our gazes meet and cross Warmly, unchanging When the full moon rises again You make me bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom Brighter than any flower, colouring I want to meet in a different space Deepen in color and then bloom You become my star Faint color deepens, in that light (And I don’t really wanna go through the end) Our season will begin again An oil painting drawn, ours alone And blooming within, a flower That’s our peony Days extending endlessly We’ve reached their end (All night long) Together we can keep them going, now You make me bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom Brighter than any flower, colouring I want to meet in a different space Deepen in color (I feel you) and then bloom It spreads, thickly When I’ll hold your hand, dancing a splendid dance (We bloom, more glamorous than a flower) When that season comes again Like destiny unstoppable We will surely meet Yeah I’m over it 익숙한듯한 이 감정 자연스레 잊혀진 Day 그 여름 아래 남긴 발자국처럼 늘 네 곁에 머물러 있어 어둠에 눈 뜬 날 날 너에게 가장 먼저 하고 싶었던 말들은 이미 닿지 않는 머나먼 공간으로 사라졌어 Everything 조금도 Not remain You make me bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom 어떤 꽃보다 환한 Colouring 다른 공간에서 만나 색을 더하고 피어나려 해 넌 내 별이 돼 옅은 색이 더 짙어지네 그 빛에 (And I don’t really wanna go through the end) 다시 시작될 우리의 계절 그려낼 우리만의 유화 그 속에 피어나는 Flower That’s our peony 긴 어둠 속에서 헤매이던 날 밝혀준 너란 빛을 되찾은 그날 내 삶은 180도 변해가 하나 둘 더 좋을 순 없을 거야 Let’s make it our restart You fly me again when I’m with you 경계는 사라져 Don’t need a rule 가까이 다가와 마주치는 시선 겹치지 따스하게 변치 않아 다시 보름달 뜨면 You make me bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom 어떤 꽃보다 환한 Colouring 다른 공간에서 만나 색을 더하고 피어나려 해 넌 내 별이 돼 옅은 색이 더 짙어지네 그 빛에 (And I don’t really wanna go through the end) 다시 시작될 우리의 계절 그려낼 우리만의 유화 그 속에 피어나는 Flower That’s our peony 수없이 이어지는 날 그 끝에 도달한 우리 함께라면 이어갈 수 있어 Now You make me bloom, bloom, bloom, bloom 어떤 꽃보다 환한 Colouring 다른 공간에서 만나 색을 더하고 (I feel you) 피어나려 해 퍼져 진하게 너와 손잡고 멋진 춤을 출 그때 (피어나 꽃보다 더 화려하게) 또다시 그 계절이 오면 막을 수 없는 운명처럼 우리는 만날 거야 분명 Yeah I'm over it Lyrics by Choi Eun-yu (Jamfactory), Oni (PNP), Cho Ara (Jamfactory), Hwa Im-hyeon (Flying Lab), Kim Na-hee, Kim Hyun-kyung (Jamfactory), Vivi (Loossemble), Yeojin (Loossemble), Meansof (PNP) Composed by Phil Schwan, J.Lu, Jsong (Oceancave) Arranged by Phil Schwan, J.Lu

- [News] Star News: Blockberry appeals results of Chuu lawsuit (230829)
[Exclusive] Appeal against the first trial regarding Chuu's exclusive contract… Blockberry goes all the way Blockberry Creative (hereafter referred to as Blockberry) filed an appeal against the results of the lawsuit against former member of the girl group LOONA, Chuu (Kim Jiwoo, 24). According to those in the legal community on the 28th, Blockberry filed an appeal against the results of the first trial of the lawsuit confirming the non-existence of the exclusive contract through its legal representative on this day. - [News] Star News: Chuu wins contract lawsuit against Blockberry (230817)
[Exclusive] Chuu a ‘Completely’ Free Person.. Court Rules Exclusive Contract with Blockberry as Invalid Chuu (Kim Jiwoo, 24) from the girl group LOONA has become a ‘completely’ free person. On the 17th, in the lawsuit to confirm the non-existence of exclusive contract effect filed by Chuu against former agency Blockberry Creative (hereafter Blockberry), the Seoul Northern District Court’s 12th Civil Suits Division ruled that “The exclusive contract signed in December 2017 between the plaintiff (Chuu) and defendant (Blockberry) is confirmed to be null and void.” That is, the court has sided with Chuu. The court also ordered Blockberry to pay for the costs of the lawsuit. Earlier in March, the court urged for a mutual settlement between the parties, which fell through. Ultimately, through this verdict, the court determined that the exclusive contract between Chuu and Blockberry did not have any effect, and as Chuu has won in the primary lawsuit in addition to the injunction petition, she has legally become free from any exclusive contract relationship with Blockberry. In January of last year, Chuu petitioned for an injunction to suspend the effect of her exclusive contract against Blockberry, citing issues such as earnings distributions and breaking of trust, which the court granted. Other members of LOONA also filed for an injunction to suspend their exclusive contracts with Blockberry and were granted the injunctions. Meanwhile, Blockberry caused a stir in November of last year when they announced through their official fan cafe that they had decided to expel and withdraw Chuu from LOONA. Blockberry said that “recently there have been reports of abuse of power, including verbal abuse, by Chuu towards company staff, and investigation has confirmed the veracity of these reports”, and “Company leadership is currently apologizing and offering consolation to the staff, and the Company has decided to take responsibility by expelling Chuu from LOONA”. Blockberry also postponed LOONA’s comeback indefinitely. At this, Chuu retorted that “I haven’t done anything that would be an embarrassment for the fans”. In December of the same year, Blockberry sent a petition to CEMA’s (Korea Entertainment Management Association) Disciplinary Mediation Ethics Committee to stop Chuu from partaking in entertainment industry activities. An issue was raised regarding Chuu allegedly having tried to tamper (already being in contact beforehand) in order to sign a new contract with By4M around the year 2021. However CEMA deemed Blockberry’s claims to be “lacking in evidence”, and stated that “this issue should be judged in the ongoing lawsuit, not through CEMA.” Yoon Sung-yeol, Star News (Source)

[Link to original post] [Whether conscious or unconscious, simply by virtue of being alive, we are active participants in the always-ongoing process of creation. To live as an artist is one way to exist in the world. It is a method of recognition and a practice of being attentive. It is to hone your senses in order to detect even more minute sounds. It is to find what pulls and pushes you away. In this way, when appropriate decisions are made one after the other, your entire life becomes self-expression. In this creative universe, you exist as a creative being. As a work of art unique in all the universe.] [All things have an expiration, all uses under the sun have their time, there is a time of birth and time of death, a time to sow and a time to reap, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to cry and a time to laugh, a time to demolish and a time to build, a time to grieve and a time to dance, a time to throw the stone and a time to put away the stone. But we do not choose the flow of time. We participate in an act of creation larger than ourselves, but we are not its center. We simply act as we are guided. An artist, like all things in nature, follows the time-table set by the universe. One who has the most fine-tuned antenna, to pull in the resonant energy in a given moment, becomes the most excellent artist.] The Creative Act: A Way of Being -Rick Rubin- Each of you is a work of art unique in the whole universe. How even your dry and tasteless days, in your world, are such a creative footprint. Again today, the resonant energies are being snatched up by my broken and rusty antenna It may be a little crude but I'm pretty decent too + [How could we recognize a signal that we cannot hear and is ill-defined? Do not try to find it. That is the answer. Do not try to predict how to enter inside, or to analyze. Instead, create an empty space, so that the energy can enter you. To do so, you need a free space in a corner of your mind, one that isn't filled with things. A space with no mass. So that we can pull in the creative material that the universe generates. It's not so difficult to make free space in your heart. BECAUSE WE WERE ALWAYS FREE!!! An artist who continuously creates excellent work throughout their life doesn't lose their childhood self. Practice -> freedom, being able to keep with the time table of the universe!] Look at us so free, we are free... If I'm savoring it this much I won't finish reading this for another 10 years
